March Audio: Too bad the speaker hot posts are not 19mm away from each other so one can bridge into 8ohms more easily.

Feels great living in an apartment right about now. Folks up in here living in mansions and half deaf where the power ratings of this amp are leaving things to be desired it seems hehe

Though as always, I still await the day someone supersedes the performance of the ABH2 in cleanliness(doesn't have to be a massive power beast).. Looks like another half-decade wait is in store for me.

But then again, why do I even care.. I'm not a speaker guy, and I just use Vanatoo T1E's anyway

Wonder if the bossman has this in his storage, or the baby version meant for desktop use from Vanatoo >_>

Nice. The almost 20% tax isn't. Do you know if they waive it for US based purchasers?

US buyers don't pay VAT.

I'd like to see one of these nCore amps with an integrated hardware volume control / input attenuator.

I hope we can see a test the March Audio p252 soon. I'd very much like to see the implementation of the nc252 vs. that in the IOM amp.

Typical for amps based on this series of modules. It's kind of difficult to mess up putting an all on one board amp in a box. Probably not enough power for inefficient speakers in large rooms.
Oh you would be surprised ;)

I have not seen any other amps that implement input RF filters and many that use unshielded ribbon cable for the audio signal, don't twist mains and speaker cables and screw up the signal screen implementation (note that in-built RCA input connectors are not best practice with a balanced input amp) .

The result is often to not meet the Hypex performance spec.

Hi @Digital Mastering System

Can you explain in a bit more detail? I have actually just provided a customer with a bridged P122 for centre channel usage. The negative posts are both ground referenced therefore already connected together. In bridged mode the speaker just connects across the two positive terminals. No difficulty there ;)

The only requirement is an input cable that splits and inverts the phase of one of the input signals. I haven't implemented this on a switch on the amp for 2 reasons:
It would provide sub optimal signal routing in the amp
It's actually an unusual requirement. Very few customers want it so there is no point in increasing cost and complexity for literally a handful of people.

Hope that helps.

I agree as well. Attached plot shows transition area in higher X-axis resolution. I would not use the "knee" point, but rather the 1% point, then even tube amps or similar to Pass amps might be defined in power rating. 0.1% point might be acceptable as well, but then amps with very low FB or tube amps would be specified to low and contrary to their use in real world.View attachment 52333
The other thing to note is the resolution (granularity) of the measurement. As the knee is rising quickly there can be large steps between the points.

  • Hooray for correcting the channel labels!
  • While the difference in SINAD between channels is not measurement porn, it's inaudible. ~95dB on the "worse" channel is still very good! My Rotel RB-1582MkII has more transformer hum on the left channel, but I can only hear it when my ear is touching the tweeter with no music playing.
  • tapered frequency response will dispel myths that Class D amps sound cold, hehe :p
  • @March Audio ever consider adding a DAC+pre in your line up? i.e. your current DAC with the same form factor, but with a volume knob.

From the product page unless @March Audio has changed something:
Dimensions 330mm x 180mm x 75mm

I don't know the dimensions of the panthers... so I'd prefer measurements. ;)
It's a primary standard -- like the SI standards -- the Pink Panther Unit (PPU). You know, like a Smoot...

A pre amp and a stereo Purifi amp are coming soon. Efforts are currently concentrating on our first speaker (Purifi / Bliesma drivers) for the Sydney hifi show in April. The DAC update is therefore a lower priority but coming later in the year.
