Hi all,

Long‑time fan of ASR and Erin’s Corner but this is only my first post after many years of following the discussions here. Thank you for the high‑quality reviews and content.

I’ve finally decided to build a new hi‑fi system for my living room and would love some advice. I own a Marantz PM‑52 (I actually own two, but I assume I’ll only need one) and I’d like to keep it in the system mainly for sentimental reasons, and to be honest I like the warm sound.

I’m looking for bookshelf speakers in the €1,000-1,500 range/pair and I’m based in EU.
Sound quality and value are the top priority, but I do care about looks as well if possible.
For reference, I’ve been looking at speakers like the Klipsch RP‑600M Mk II and Wharfedale Linton, mostly because I like their design, but I’m very open to other suggestions.

Any recommendations for bookshelf speakers around this budget that would suit the PM‑52?

Thanks!

Ascend Acoustics make several highly regarded (and very well measuring) speakers in your price range, and they look pretty nice, too! I have no idea about cost/availability in Europe.

Thanks for the recommendations guys. Definitely a good starting point.
AsciLab C6B at €1299. In the middle of your price range and fulfill all your described criteria. Your Marantz at 2x 120 Watt@ 4 Ohm will power them easily.

Erin’s review.

Seems impossible to find the AsciLab C6B nowadays.. I think I will wait a bit, see if they become available again.
