Marantz MODEL M1 Wireless Streaming Amplifier

I just received an email from Marantz stating “Our team is aware of the issue with the Model M1 and certain speaker models and they currently working toward a solution. We appreciate your patience and we will offer more details as soon as they are available.”

Unplug the M1's power cord from the M1 itself as well as from your wall. Unplug all your associated equipment and speaker, too. Wait a minute. Now, re-connect your speakers and associated equipment to the M1 but do not turn anything on. Plug in the M1 and let it start up. Now turn other products on. The noise should be gone. It's likely you made a change while the M1 was "running" which may have resulted in static. This happened to me, and these were the steps I took to eliminate it. My M1 is silent once again.

I saw this already. It may have worked for him, but it doesn’t seem to work for anyone else.

UPDATE ON MY M1 STRUGGLES!…

For shits I just purchased a new set of KEF LS50 Metas. And, guess what? No noise (at least that I have noticed thus far). I have been using them via the HDMI ARC for TV and Tidal via WI-FI for about an hour without issue.

Do the LS50's sound good on a class D amp?

Have been using the Model M1 with the KEF LS50 Metas for the past week. Fantastic pairing and its the first amp that has been able to do justice to the speakers. My earlier amp- a Rotel RA10 used to play well but the speakers are very demanding.

The initial setup takes about 10-15 min given the peculiarities of HEOS. After that its a breeze- no issues (thankfully). Bluesound Powernode is much faster to set up and sounds well but fades in comparison to the Marantz in terms of sound.

When Dirac Live is rolled out for the Bluesound Powernode, things should look different again ;)
I am not a big fan of Dirac. I returned the AVR licence for my Denon 3800. For stereo I focus more on speaker placement and minor correction to room rather than software. I took a demo of Dirac on higher end models of NAD (stereo) but wasn’t quite impressed.

In my opinion it's another great EXPENSIVE idea that still needs work (and a price reduction) to be worthwhile.
It's impressive but the cost/effect ratio is not there. (for me, anyway). Maybe it's better if your not a 2.2 (or more subs) guy.
I was once a 5.2 guy for a few years but I re-converted.

This reminded me of a Monty Python skit….

I do. Maybe you were listening at the exact time when Dirac Live had problems.
If the FOMO gets strong, I can incorporate DIRAC through my minidsp (2X4 HD) by reconnecting Wiim Pro----MiniDSP-----Marantz. But unless I am doing a A/B comparison everyday I dont feel that I am missing anything.
One of the reasons for buying a unit like Marantz M1 was also to get rid of the FOMO since there is nothing that I can upgrade in the chain any more other than speaker wires :) Otherwise it was always the equipment first and music second with the constant urge to upgrade something- first the streamer, then DAC then Amp then speakers then interconnects, power supply, etc.
The M1 leaves very little scope to introduce anything- even analog input signals are converted to digital and reconverted to analog- so no point in introducing any expensive DAC/ interconnects, etc.

My Denon Home Amp has just updated to firmware 3.34.622 (no other HEOS devices updated), but there are no details on the Denon/Marantz website at the moment.

Firmware from 05.03.2025 - U35.3 - Marantz M1 only

HEOS Firmware: 3.34.622

  • Fixed: Residual noise occurred on the non-oscillated speakers due to a false positive
  • Other bugfixes and performance improvements

Thanks for sharing. I haven't updated the software since the time I bought the M1 due to the tweeter hiss issue highlighted on this forum. Will do tonight.

Thanks for sharing. I just purchased a used M1 on Amazon for $700. Hopefully the firmware update will solve the residual noise issue. I'll test before and after.
