Marantz MODEL M1 Wireless Streaming Amplifier

Seems like it. I have no way to test it and my speakers are nominal 8ohm, 6ohm minimal, so I don’t come anywhere close to the limits.
Mine is 8 ohm norminel. But the minimum dips to 2.9 ohm. So I guess mine can get near its limits at certain frequencies.

Are you high-pass filtering them at all and combining with a subwoofer? If so, you might not be going down to 2.9ohms after all.

M1 place of assembly in Japan
'Approximately 185km northeast of Tokyo, in the Fukushima Prefecture, is the historic city of Shirakawa. Here, at the foot of the volcanic Nasu Mountains you’ll find Japan’s oldest public park, over 100 restaurants specializing in Shirakawa Ramen, and a city that has quietly become synonymous with cutting-edge audio technology.

Shirakawa Audio Works has been Denon’s manufacturing home since 1983. This vast facility employs around 200 people, a mix of local talent and audiophiles from around Japan, all driven by a collective passion for better audio technology. Many come straight from school, while some have been there since it was established almost 40 years ago'

Isn’t AI great?

I am seriously considering the M1 but have been cautious with regard to the hissing noise problems reported all over this thread.

For me it is not yet unequivocally whether that has been resolved by Marantz. Does anyone have any insights on this?

Many thanks!

It seems it depends on the speakers you connect to the Marantz M1.

Zero issues with MoFi SourcePoint 8.

The strange thing is that there is no obvious pattern in which speakers can bring out the issue. It's not like it's more prone to happen with sensitive speakers or low impedance or something like that.

They also released firmware updates that basically fixed it anyway.

Those sound like Focals? Any issues with the impedance dips? Or how would you describe performance generally?

I was a bit sceptical myself about the impedance dips. But I can't say I have noticed any issue. The Marantz drives them well and firm and shows no sign of "struggling" at least no before extremely loud volume levels.

I really enjoy the Focals..they play detailed(some might say a bit bright) with a firm base. I like my combo.

When not driven into distortion, all amplifliers sound the same. The warm Marantz sound is a myth.

You have to test blind and level matched

Isn't the Marantz signature sound created by the HDAM (discrete opamp replacements) they are using?

One other thing I noticed is the M1 sometimes staying on (not going to standby) after 30 minutes, even though nothing is playing or powered on peripherally.

Reboot fixes the issue until it happens again.
