Marantz MODEL M1 Wireless Streaming Amplifier

I'm not sure about this comment. I use Magic Beans with a Wiim Ultra. I use the 10 band PEQ on the Wiim for the left & right speakers and 3 band PEQ on 2 SVS 3000 micros. I'm pretty sure that the moving mic method and calculation of the Target Curve for my room using Magic Beans is better than automatic Dirac Live. I am going to start researching putting a Raspberry Pi in the chain with Camilla DSP.
I´m not arguing for getting better results with a careful EQ of any device, my point is that the capacity to run Dirac is a premium that other companies do not have. Is it worth it? Well, that is up to the end user.

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to let you know. The hissing is still there and is definitely hardware.

I bought one when it came out. No issues. Sold it because i change mu system very often.. Then i bought one 2 months ago. Hissing from the start. Rebooting it does work!
However this should not be normal with a Marantz.

Got in touch with Marantz Netherlands and they told me that they are not quite sure if its hardware or software.

However, i just got a new one, same firmware and it’s silent as can be!

So bottom line. It must be hardware. It is weird that after a reboot it’s fine… but my new one is silent so i am glad i did the swap for an other unit.
Well. I’m sorry to admit. It’s still shit.

Apparently this one behaves a little different. My previous one hissed and puffed right away. This one is silent on boot up. But when you play music it sounds really rough and distorted.

Sorry if i misinformed you guys. Marantz just messed this amp up…

Since there do not seem to be any reports of problems with the Denon Home Amp, and the only difference between the M1 and the Denon Home Amp seems to be the DAC filters (there is no such option on the Denon), I wonder if this could have anything to do with the problem. Has anyone changed the DAC filter on the M1?

I bought the M1 about three weeks ago and also have a noise in the speakers that is clearly audible. For example, immediately upon startup if I run Youtube via Apple TV.
I asked both a major retailer in Sweden and the importer if the problem existed due to what I read here on the forum. But both denied it all and said they had no knowledge of it.

I will probably return it. Doesn't feel right considering the price. I also don't think it is software-related considering they haven't solved it yet.
I have an alternative setup with Fosi audio ZA3 and Bluesound Node (N132) that works perfectly, without noise. :)

If the M1 issue is related to the speakers used, it would be really helpful to know the brand and model of the speakers you all use.

I have not had any experience wirh the hissing wondering if I won the Amp lotto or if its my speakers.

Dirac is quite a game changer with the M1. There is a perceptible difference on most songs while in a few it is not so noticeable.
