Marantz Model 10 integrated amplifier

Besides, the whole point of high end is it's aspirational, and beyond reach for most. Most of high end audio products are Veblen goods, the more expensive they are, more attractive they are to buyers. You want to have more expensive system than the other guy, in that class. Chassis of unobtanium and silver wire throughout, diamond tweeters on speakers. Magnets from alloy taken from Titanic. And preferably not Marantz, 'cause it's brand anyone can afford. So if they want to sell it, it must be VERY good.

That's an original Marantz unit, not this Purifi garbage disguised as Marantz.
That’s why they use a Purifi base…because it is a garbage?
Can you explain why you think it is a garbage? Though everyone think it is great?

The KEF LS50 are definitely stunning, but maybe you are referring to the review of the Marantz, which is luckily linked at the bottom :)
No shortage of power! Almost doubles down at 4 ohm.

What’s interesting is the 1W performance.

“Signal to noise ratio (A-weighted filter, for 1W)”

Noise and clipping are the two biggest impacts on amplifier audio quality. Since this is A-weighted, it already eliminates theoretical wide band noise. I wonder if this is a result of the preamp’s noise or amplifier itself. I would still go for the Marantz if I was spending my own money (because the dealer discounts on the Marantz are better). That said, it’s definitely audiophile jewelry at this level of performance. (And for the record, I am all class D active speakers now).

Yes of course I corrected my friend

It is absolute Audio Jewelry, and a typical product I would have been highly interested in (if i would have had the money, which i don't and didn't back then), before i joined this Forum.

Now i know that it's foolishness to spend such an amount on (any) kind of equipment, save for speakers perhaps.
The only added benefit would be (one might hope!) that you buy from a legacy brand, with extensive dealership ,that it is built to very high standards, and that it will work for many many years to come, again, as should be for a product like this, not exactly a bargain, but in that light it might be worth it for some people.

Anyways a stunning piece of audio hardware:D

The Link 10n looks beautiful but for a $12K preamp with subwoofer out, I am surprised it doesn’t have XLR out for the sub.
If they wanted to make the Link 10n a world class streamer/preamp, I think there are a lot of things they left out from a component of this price and class. Yes, it should have XLR subwoofers out, but maybe 4 of them instead of just one. And, it should have robust (but defeatable) room/bass management software (like Dirac ART). I think it should also have more single-ended and balanced inputs with at least one being able to be set as a Home Theater pass-through/bypass. I know they have the Model 10 integrated amp that does a few of these things, and their intended market is obviously the "audiophile" crowd, but I feel the problem with the 10 series is that they don't have a true traditional amp or a true preamp like many audiophiles might want. The Marantz 10 series' components, however, are truly beautiful and well-built. I want them just to look at  :D

I have both and a trinnov nova for a small 2.1 setup.
The specs are not as bleeding edge as my previous setup but it makes up for it in the looks department. I paid less than half of retail so that makes it slightly more palatable.
The nova does a great job helping with room acoustics. It doesn't quite match the other components in visual appeal. So I had a friend custom make a case for the nova out of solid billet aluminum with Birdseye maple accents.
The link10n supports tidal connect and qobuz connect so I can control everything with my phone or iPad. Keep it simple and enjoy the music and the art for the eyes and ears!

Will be sure to post some pics when case is finished. The nova was meant for recording studios so there was not much attention paid to looks. It actually makes for a better fit for 2.1 then trinnov's other products that were meant for 2.1. the custom case just adds the extra touch to the overall system asthetic. The marantz take care of that from the factory. Not quite d'agostino but nice looking in their own way.

It's eye candy for sure, but I doubt that I would hear the difference with my current Marantz Model 30 / SACD 30n setup.

I know, this forum isn’t huge McIntosh fans but I think they should build a MA12000 with integrated MEN 220 and call it the MA12220. It would sell like hotcakes, 350W integrated amp with RoomPerfect and dual XLR sub outputs. Might donate a kidney or two.

That might be a visual treat!
the person that I worked with and did the actual build has finished. He is just putting together a video documenting the build for his youtube channel. I will post some pics when I get the finished case and also link to his build video.
