Hello everybody,
Just new in this valid forum.
After decades I have put together finally a system to listen to music at best for my budget and room space.
My system is the following:
Streamer/DAC/Preamp Eversolo A8
Power Amplifier Marantz MM7025
Speakers Sonus Faber Sonetto I
CD Transport Shanling ET3
Head amplifier Zen Can Signature
Headphones Sennheiser HD660H2

I am satisfied about the sound quality overall but I am doubtful about my choice for the power amp.
It was a decision of the last moment and maybe if I knew this forum at the time of my choice I was more temped to try a class D power amp.

My doubt is specific on the capabilities of the Marantz MM7025 to drive at best the Sonetto I
What is your expert view about it.
Is it advisable to try to test a Class D amp like the

AUDIOPHONICS HPA-S400ET Power Amplifier Class D Stereo Purifi 1ET400A 2x400W 4 Ohm

to drive at best the 4Ohm impedence Sonetto I?
The Marantz from the specs it is not declared for 4Ohm loads but 6-8 Ohms, even if the result is not bad.
I am satisfied by the rest of the gears.
My be I should just sit and enjoy my music but I may take the chance to listen to your expert opinions.

Thanks
Antonio

Welcome to the forum!

The Marantz amp should be fine. At normal listening levels it will be putting out only a watt or two of power. I would not worry about it at all. Some other amps may have better technical measurements into 4 ohm speakers, but almost certainly any differences are well below the threshold of what humans can hear.

Thanks Mark.
I am fascinating by the class D amps new trend but as I said listening to my system I feel ok, furthermore my listening position is on a sofa at about 2 mts a carpet lay down between the sofa and the speakers.
When I push to 70 to 80 dB the dynamics and instrument separation looks fine, at low dB the sound becomes a bit more flat.
Anyhow I can’t ear remarkable problems at moment.
May be the sonetto I could be paired with a small sub (SF gravis I, Velodyne microvee X, Kef KC62) for music listening, not interested to boom the movies sound, so eventually I could spend some money on a sub to complete my system.
Thanks again for your help

I think a small sub would be much more musically rewarding than a new amp.

Totally agree, the improvement in bass quality / definition with a dedicated sub + high pass filter to the main speakers isn't marginal ... and also available power / dynamic response.

You need a preamp with high pass filter to the mains and low pass filter to the sub, more or less at 80hz.

I would prefer not to add a preamp and continue to use the A8 preamp filtering by its DSP, connect the sub woofer with speaker level input and use sub crossover for low pass

I wouldn't change power amps. Is there an actual problem with the Marantz amp now?

While I'd prefer bass management for both speaker/sub, I'd still get a sub before changing power amp.
