Keep in mind that 7.1 is not Atmos. You can't add height channels to the Cinema 70 and the decoder is only going to give you the DD+/TrueHD core bed layer. If you want heights, you'll need a 9+ channel unit.
The 70 supports 5.2.2 processing, so that's allright.

If you're on a budget, you'll get a lot more value from a Denon.
I can get the 70 for about 500, cheapest I can find the 3800H is 970 (euro)

However I completely forgot about having a Pio LX89 laying around. which is a fully equipped Atmos receiver, never really liked the sound of it that much though. But maybe as a processor it will be fine.

Hi everyone,

I've had my 70s for about a year now, and so far everything has been going very nicely.

However, in the past couple of weeks or so, it has begun to switch off randomly when listening to streaming services but not when watching TV/Netflix, etc.,

This happens at various intervals, sometimes as short as one hour, sometimes after 6 hours, etc., so there's no discernable pattern (that I can tell).

All the ECO settings are off in all my devices (LG 65C5, Chromecast, etc.), so not too sure what's going on.

Also, does anyone know what software to use to view the logs?

Any advice/tips on how to get a handle on this would be much appreciated, thanks :)

Heat protection circuit or low f/DC on input perhaps. Check how hot it is. Otherwise the CEC function. It may be on auto off (HDMI), shutting it off through HDMI even though it is working on something else.

I use it purely as a processor, so it doesn't run not hot at all, barely over body temperature

So how about the HDMI CEC setting?

Almost certainly this.

I'm not sure this is it, because this only happens when I'm using the HEOS functionality - either streaming Qobuz, TuneIn, etc.

I've done a reboot of HEOS, but no luck. There was a recent HEOS update that other users have reported issues with as well.

I'm thinking to buy the Marantz Cinema 70S as a preamp/processor for a Neumann multi-monitor setup. I have MA-1 for calibrating all my Neumann DSP monitors. Is this Marantz a good buy for my usage? I can get either the Denon X3800H or Cinema 70S for the same price, but I do prefer the slim profile of the Marantz over the Denon.

Do I still need Dirac Live or is the MA-1 sufficient for my Neumann DSP monitors?

I am not familiar with the MA-1 and Neumann DSP monitors but I would think they can do their own thing without DL. If you really like the low profile style then there isn't much, if any choice other than the C70S. The C70S however, is limited in features and output whereas the AVR-X3800H is far superior in that sense and in terms of future proofing.

Marantz Cinema 70s would be something between Stereo 70s and x3800h. Slim AVR with DSP, but not as advanced features as X3800h.
