I'm afraid I didn't have the patience to watch that one all the way through. I hope it's good.

At least now we know the DAC is the 8 channel ES9017S ( 110dB THD+N, 120dB DNR) so it will a step down from the A1H and AV10.

The limiter is the volume controller anyway, at probably -107db.

so the c30 has alexa integration. is there a way to have Voice commands:

Blu ray audio is awkward because there are no standards. Some load immediately (like SACD), but sometimes default to Atmos (or whatever the surround format offered may be) and sometimes default to stereo. Some boot to a menu screen and you must select. A few are stereo only and those play most similarly to an SACD. Most European blu ray discs will play without need to use a monitor, they usually default to Atmos (if available) but you can select the other audio streams with colored buttons. But not all and they are not consistent with the default format playback. British and American blu rays have inconsistent authoring and generally make you wait through dire copyright notices before the disc boots up to play. Each company takes a different approach.

But the sound quality is superb, limited only by the mastering of the content. I have a small secondary monitor that I use for blu ray music playback (and DVD-A, DVD-V music discs.)

Love SDE BluRay releases in ATMOS! True that having to fire up the projector to see the menu is annoying!

But then it’s a bliss to listen to well remastered albums in Atmos.

Will eventually get a small 14” screen so I don’t have to use the projector

Just use the C30's amp if volume always stage below around -20, maximum not exceeding -15, otherwise I would suggest the affordable (relatively of course) Hypex NC502MP based amp, or equivalent/similar models such as the NCx series, or the Purifi's if you want to spend more..

It can take some load off the C30, that’s about it. To really make some difference, I would not consider the 252, the 502 should be the starting point.

It depends on the voltage and current needs for the speakers and your listening habits.

My guess is, they will be good enough, but the C30’s own power amps are just as good.

I'm running NCX252 for surrounds and Atmos, no issues. I can easily play over reference volume (not that my ears can take it).

On paper, the 1580 appears to be slightly more powerful than the Cinema 30. It is very much a descendant of my old Rotel RSX-1067 receiver. However, like that receiver, there doesn't appear to be any form of room correction built in. Unless you're getting a professional calibration, I'd still opt for the Cinema 30 purely for access to all of Dirac's current licenses.

Can someone confirm that with a Dirac filter active, the speaker levels shown in Speakers/Manual setup/Levels are what Dirac has set?

I've uploaded filters from 0db up to 12db, where Dirac predicted response for LFE channel is way below the target curve but the subwoofer levels haven't changed (all 4 at or near -10db)

Can those speaker levels be manipulated post calibration? If so, then those are not the settings Dirac has imposed as you can't tweak Dirac post calibration on D&M units.

The speaker level matching in the beginning of Dirac calibration is the most important and should be confirmed by REW.
