Marantz Cinema 30

LE: once again, I thank everyone for their comments and I don't want to turn this thread into a complaining one. But i hopped for more from this unit , or at least to give up of a separate solution for streaming music if an external amp isn't possible to rule out for quality stereo, and of that I'm sure now, especially maybe, with my sonettos.
Did you try turning off Dolby loudness management which is turned on by default? The what hi-fi review found much improved 2 channel listening with this turned off.

I also just bought a C30 and I really like it. However, I have encountered what seems to be a software bug. When I use Airplay to play music in HEOS mode, if I turn off the device, unplug it, and then turn it back on, regardless of the mode I switch to, there is no sound when I increase the volume. I have to push the power button to soft reboot it again to get sound. However, when I turn it off in non-HEOS mode, completely unplug it, and then turn it back on, everything works fine. Has anyone else experienced the same issue? It seems like this problem emerged after a firmware update. Restoring factory firmware can solve this problem. It appears to be a bug with HEOS.

Hello, I have been the owner of the Marantz Cinema 30 for 2 months and I am very surprised by the sound quality. I also have a Yamaha RX-A2080 for the cinema, but the C30 is in a completely different league. It is very well set up and Audyssey took care of the quality settings and the C30 plays amazingly, every detail is heard in each speaker. But I also wanted to ask here who owns the C30 whether they have noticed a crackling in various speakers when switching decoders at higher volumes. Or if you smoothly increase the volume from 70db -0db, you can hear a small crackling in the left front. I switch between inputs and the crackling is sometimes also heard. Does Marantz have a job to turn off the speakers for a few seconds when changing the input and decoder, and does that crackling occur at higher volumes so that it does not destroy the speaker system? Because with that crackling, I am more afraid that the speakers will be damaged. My speaker sensitivity is 93db. U 89db is not that audible

You shouldn't be getting such seemingly random crackling noise. Have you checked and make sure all your speaker/amp binding posts connections are good? Such noise are often caused by loose/bad connections especially if banana plugs are used.

I'm trying to connect speakers without banana plugs. I also tried it on other boxes and on the C30 I really pulled the cable so that there was no noise. And that's why I wrote that when I connect something via the input Analog via RCA, it doesn't work there at all

No offence to reviewer but it’s an opinion piece and illogical in few places like cons it’s expensive yet 9/10 value for money. Reads like advertising.

Any who, are there any leaks whether c30 will get Dirac ART or any of them taking into account possibly new models coming out soon?

There was one person over at AVS who had a verbal conversation w/someone that ART may not come to the mass market AVRs after all!
Yes, the above is pure hearsay but wouldn't surprise me if Dirac went a different direction and decided their company is too small to handle exponentially more questions about their products!

That would suck. Perhaps they realized it doesn’t work that well and need more work.

I doubt that that's the case..
You've made 2 posts in the clusterf*ck that is the 25,300+ post master Dirac thread over at AVS but you're able to come to this conclusion?!!

Not great news for consumers that were eagerly awaiting 2025 release on various platforms.

Did they say they will continue developing ART on Storm platform? Seems like they still had to iron out some issues.

Storm wasn't mentioned in the convo but I would imagine ART development is ongoing as it is a niche product for the most discerning customers (and far fewer customers at that)! ;)

Interesting. I wonder how much resources they can dedicate as a "small" company for a "niche" product though.

Dirac probably weighed the maximum potential number of customers vs money lost handling troubleshooting requests (and potential loss of reputation). In the end, "time is money" so the math becomes easy if you sit and think about it!

Speaking of reputation, I wonder what's going on behind closed doors b/w Dirac and PAC after the latest firmware debacle that made DLBM and DLBC unusable!

It seems they are beginning to feel the weight of their own success. It seems logical they focus on the bread and butter products across multiple platforms, which is proving challenging.

As HT enthusiast, I just wish situation in room EQ space was more promising though.

Sony and Yamaha are what they are and chose to offer "simpler" EQ systems, perhaps knowing that more sophisticated solutions could cause issues even on their own hardware.

Anthem with ARC is in the middle, and unlikely to go further if not pushed by the others.

Audy has been stagnant for years since the release of MultiEQ-X, albeit they did come up with some minor updates over time. Further development seems unlikely given the current D&M situation, although would love to be surprised.

Dirac is what it is and seems like will not break away from its crossover concept and simple bass management on multiple platforms anytime soon. Probably good enough for most, thus why bother with "exotics".

All in all, not much to upgrade to - Lingdorf or Trinnov?

I think people are funny this way, they either expect too little or too much. Those who trust their "ears", tend to get influenced, or actually biased by the marketing info, the good look of the interface, eg Anthem arcg "fans. And those who trust measurement more would tend to expect too much, and might even spend millions of hours tweaking just to get some pretty curves.
