Marantz CD67 mk2 measurements

The "SE" in that particular case was a cynical exploitation of early audiophile nonsense, subsequently perpetuated by Marantz and the sadly departed Ken Ishiwata. Screwing on a steel base plate and gluing on a inner steel/bitumen pad to make the unit heavier and sound more expensive when you rapped your knuckles on the casework. They threw some Elna Silmics at it, and the HDAM- I think it got a deluxe copper plated box didn't it?

Still didn't change the truly horrible loading mechanism and cheap transport Philips were famous for.

I had one, sold it and never regretted it.
KI's schtick was mainly swapping in fancy capacitors, wasn't it? He probably did more to perpetuate that myth than anyone.

From that era when Philips owned Marantz only their flagship stuff was worth the bother. The rest was nasty plastic tat that only looked good in photographs.

I would never speak ill of the dead, but some of the "KI" specials were actually worse measuring than the standard poverty-pack versions in my experience.

That said, I have a CD12/DA12 LE pair which is ridiculously engineered and sounds wonderful. One of only 500 built. But it has a spelling mistake on the front panel lettering- can you believe that?

Okay I'll bite - what is it? There's not much writing on them.

The first ones had two "L"s on Cancel. I'll dig mine out and take a pic sometime.

I have these actual three pieces, the PM95, CD12 and DA12LE along with a matching tuner.
