You can run 4k/60 on 18gbps cable spec. I believe 8k/60 needs 40gbps.
Absolutely loving the sound coming out of this thing (EVO AcoustiX for now, DIRAC ART over the holidays) - but the HDMI issues remind me of my early days with my X6700H. I can't believe this, when this was supposed to be a "full 8k everywhere!" upgrade. Same cables everywhere that were all working just great with the X6700H _yesterday_, so while I will start replacing them one by one, they are absolutely capable of what I am asking of them ... this reeks of firmware bug. 4k/60 works fine from Shield with the HDMI port on the Marantz end set to Enhanced or 8K Enhanced (well, sometimes), but then as soon as I enable DV you can see from the display it's dropping the connection over and over and over and over ... looks like a handshake thing to me. Why can't things just work? Especially at this price point.
Hoping someone else has had and resolved similar issues. Not finding a whole lot searching various AV sites or the internet as a whole.
You can do 4k/60hz with at 10 bit but only with 4:2:0 chroma subsampling. You can run 4k/60 on 18gbps cable spec. I believe 8k/60 needs 40gbps.
I was just trying to get what was working before over the same cables, working again. When I read "8k enhanced" I think "8k60/4k120", which I guess the Shield doesn't even support anyway, but with the number of things that _do_ support 4k120 these days, I try to just set everything up for it so I'm not pulling my hair out later trying to troubleshoot an issue. You can run 4k/60 on 18gbps cable spec. I'm envisioning something similar to Stockholm Syndrome in those Emo forums.Greetings everyone,
Thanks to the high-quality discussion in this forum, I just ordered the AV 20 after finding an open-box buy @ $5150. It will replace my (please don't laugh) Emo XMC-2+, which replaced my Emo RMC-1L, which replaced my Denon AVR 3808-CI.
Will probably take one month to get Dirac ART fully dialed in, and I look forward to sharing my impressions at that time.
Thanks to all of you for the analysis in this forum. After a decade of being in the Emo forum, it's so refreshing to be here. Lots of good folks there as well, but mostly anxiety from Emo issues.
Very close!I'm envisioning something similar to Stockholm Syndrome in those Emo forums.
Sorry but what is the problem? You want to alter the product - because of what? For me its a crap. This thing has a warranty so I can't change out the caps and by the time the warranty is over this thing wont matter. I probably wont have it in 3 years.
BTW, that warranty is 5 years, so you'll have to listen to those crap caps a little longer. For me its a crap. This thing has a warranty so I can't change out the caps and by the time the warranty is over this thing wont matter. I probably wont have it in 3 years.
There are other models like new Tide and HTP-1 - you might want to check their caps - if that is all that really matters.I may not like the brand of caps used. But this model av20 sounds amazing. Waiting for another sub amp to show up before calibration.
I would not. They use what they see fit to use - take it or leave it. Or just redo the whole thing to your liking. Once you buy it - it's literally yours to do what you feel fit. But you better understand what you are doing and for what. All the parts matter. U would think a $6k model would use like nichicon and Panasonic caps.
Easy to say but without being in the chain of peanut crunchers you really don't know.U would think a $6k model would use like nichicon and Panasonic caps.
If you have the hardware, you can definetly try 8K. Use a PC, run PC content like videogames at that resolution and there it is. The caveat is that even a top of the line GPU will struggle with such resolution. You can do 4k/60hz with at 10 bit but only with 4:2:0 chroma subsampling.
8k/60Hz is only possible with Display Stream Compression even on 40Gbps cables. However there is essentially no 8k content. On the display side Sony have pulled out of 8k TVs entirely although Samsung and LG still have products.
Saul Marantz himself was quite alive by then. You should have got his signature and that piece of gear would be a collector´s item.I got my first Marantz about 1975, a 2270 receiver and they never let me down yet.
