The thing to compare how hot it really is for work is the Wet Bulb Globe temperature or WBGT. Takes into account sun exposure, wind, humidity, and temperature. UAE I have read has a no outdoor work policy between 12:30 pm and 3 pm from June to September.

In Normandy and Paris, summer has not really started yet... a few days here and there of good weather and especially rain and cold... after two consecutive summers of drought... I had my well to make it deeper, bought a pump... it still hasn't been used... and this year I won't have any tomatoes: all the plants have died of disease...

Did all the work around the house done during the week as I have guests. It whosent all that bad while I whose doing it. Worked early in the mornings and before sunset. Ended up with muscle pain that is hard to shake off and detox because of severe heat. Damn grass is still growing.

It has been cooler and wetter than normal in southeast Oklahoma. We've had a few days getting above 100. The grass is still green and growing fast.

Just down the road from you, but we're up in the hills here.

Hate the cold, don't feel the heat at all. If I go to a hot country first thing I do when getting into the hotel room is turn the aircon off - so if anyone in Florida wants to swap places I'm all for it.

Problem is that on the other side of the channel this miserable weather comes with unseen amounts of rain and wind. (2 days back we had a storm again that caused a lot of serious damage). It's been like this for 9 months.

This is true. But with the rain you can put a coat on and still go out and enjoy the outside.

But (at least for me) 90+F is too hot to be outside even sitting very still.

I personally think we have the best climate in the world. Never too hot to go out. Never too cold to go out. And no beasties with the capability and inclination to kill or maim.

I get what you're saying about heat, too much of a good thing and so on. But enjoying the outside with the current weather, not really. I'm a cyclist and sailor, not much fun in rain and storm. My boat costs me a small fortune (relatively, I'm not loaded) and requires lots of maintenance, and it's laying there unused. If I had known weather would evolve like this I would not have invested in such hobbies.

Cycling is fine in the rain (up to about 2 hours). At least in the rain we are having now. Not so much when it is 0C and feels like a billion tiny darts hitting your face.
