The new TV techs are nice and all but I am very skeptical that people will care enough about image quality to spur a shorter upgrade cycle. Videophiles are a tiny niche at best.
I was all set about getting a PJ and screen ... Now you have to spoil my thinking.
A TV has the immense advantage of not needing the room to be dark to function ... and well. OTOH you can get a 100 inch or more diagonal with a below $1000 PJ .. how much would you have to pay for a 100 inches diagonal TV?
On this can anyone recommend a <= $1000 65" TV with HDR and 4 K ? Sorry but I had to ask ...
If you look @ the latest measurement tests just recently in flat panels technology between OLED, LCD LED and QLED, the King is OLED, followed by LED, and QLED is last.
I'm not sure this is correct but I don't think anyone makes a led tv . I believe they are LCD and they use led as back lighting even though people refer to them as Led .
Also the other thing is that i believe sony is not making there own oled i think lg makes the panel for them and they do all the other stuff like software and deinterlacer programing on their own.
The only oled sony makes is on their 30 inch 30000 dollar broadcast monitor which I use every week . Amazing.
Once you see uncompressed uhd hdr on that thing there is no going back .
A LED-backlit LCD is a flat panel display which uses LED backlighting instead of the cold cathode fluorescent (CCFL) backlighting. ... While not an LED display, a television using such a combination of an LED backlight with an LCD panel is called an LED TV by some manufacturers and suppliers.
Frantz is looking for a 65" for $1,000 -- that 65" TCL is only $800 ($200 below his budget).
But for $1,200 ($200 over his budget) the 65" Vizio P Series is the one I would get for my grandson. It scores marginally better than the TCL, enough to buy it.
