Magnetic materials in the audio signal path can generate measurable distortion increases in the signal delivered to the speakers. An example is here in the ASR review of a Purifi based amplifier.

Investigation revealed that the abnormal rise in SINAD beginning at about the 10 watt output level was coming from a steel tab on the speaker connector .

The issue was quickly addressed and the distortion rise was eliminated by replacing the tab with non-magnetic material.

The distortion effects of the magnetic materiel in the signal path seemed to rise roughly proportional to the signal current.

I have a pair of Monoprice TRS (balanced) to XLR cables to connect my topping D50 to the Buckeye amp I have on order. A quick inspection with a magnet reveals that there are magnetic materials in both connectors. Will the current in low level signal cables be high enough to cause detectable distortion generated by the magnetic materials?

Have there been any ASR reviews of cables that found this to be an issue?

Almost certainly inaudible (and probably unmeasurable) at line level voltages and currents.
