Here are some measurements of the Mackie CR4 powered speaker. It's the old version, not the "X" measured by Erin.
Apparently, it's a creative reference (whatever that means), with "studio quality design".
I measured the passive speaker, connected to the active/powered one.
Equipment used:
3,5mm output from Asus X570-F Gaming motherboard (24/48, loopback measurement included).
REW v5.30.5 (mac)
miniDSP UMIK-2 calibrated mic
50cm looks very similar:
Horizontal directivity:
Vertical directivity:
Distortion:
I didn't measure at higher SPL because the port already sounded like a balloon deflating at 84dB/1m.
Near-field response:
Bass response before/after correction:
I had the speaker playing in the background while writing this post. It has an annoying resonant midrange, the treble is bright and sharp without being detailed, and the bass is muddy.
Asus X570-F Gaming analog loopback (3,5mm line out -> mic/line-in), for reference (signal source when measuring). I'm pretty sure the small irregularities are caused by the input/recording, not the playback. It's down by 1 dB at 50Hz, but it doesn't really matter with this speaker.
