Friend and colleague of mine is looking to upgrade his speakers. He already has good 2 channel amplifier (Yamaha S-701) and does not want to run a subwoofer. Sources are turntable, I forgot the model since I am not into vinyl and streaming PC. 100% music, 0% movies. Does not want bookshelves and stands.
He was looking at B&Ws , yet I convinced him they are much better option within his budget. Based on reviews, discussions here and what I have heard I have selected:
- Monitor Audio Gold 6G 300 - Good reviews, good measurements, yet I would like to check the spinorama graph of any MA spaker with ribbon tweeter.
- Q Acoustics Concept 500 - Great measurements and cabinet, not sure with the LFE.
- Wharfedale Aura 4 - Aura 2 measures very well.
- Dali Opticon 8 - not so sure with these.
Since we are in EU the prices over here are different than in the US. For example KEF R7 Meta is like 50% more expensive than all I have listed above. Focals are also expensive. Revels are basically impossible to find.
Would like to hear your opinion and suggestions. Thanks.
