Lynx Hilo 2 Audio Interface Review

It is disappointing to hear about your trouble. I owned an original Hilo for a few years, and I did have problems with the Windows drivers in some configurations. I wrote that off to the old PC I was using with the Hilo. I hope Lynx isn't having systematic issues with USB drivers.

in the end, I got it to work properly with the correct driver, but for the life of me, I don’t remember how I did it.

What I can say though is that these are the best converters I’ve ever used. I don’t do mastering so I am used to multi channel inputs and output units like the Apogee Symphony and both the Lynx Aurora and Aurora (n), the latter being my primary tracking unit at the moment.

I am using the Hilo 2 in conjunction with the Aurora (n), both as DAC for my monitors (ATC) and as my primary stereo AD conversion when multitracking.

It’s outstanding.

I am glad to hear that. Despite my troubles with the original Hilo and my old computer, I thought very highly of it as a converter. The "patch-panel" interface is complex but provides incredible functionality. If memory serves, during the time I had it, Lynx updated the PC control software, which I found more intuitive than the touch screen. But the main thing: the sound was excellent.

If I ever again need a device that can do what the Hilo does, the Hilo 2 is at the top of my list.
