Lyngdorf TDAI-1120 questions

Hi,

Since today i am not able to access amplifier's web page on any browser. Amplifier plays music and LungdorfRemote iOs app works and i can play my sources. I tried 5 min power off and did did not help. So, it is only web page interface that is an issue.

Is anyone experiencing this?
Your amp's local IP address may have been changed by your wifi router. Has your router been rebooted recently? If you have not set up your router to always use the same fixed IP address for the amp, it can change after a reboot.

You can see the current IP address from the iOS app; click on the "settings" button (spiky circle) in the upper left corner when the amp is on.

Alternatively the local amp address is of the form http://192.168.1.#, where # is likely a single digit (but can be 2 digits). You can just try them one at a time.

Hi MarkS,

Thank you for your suggestion. However, the issue dos not appear to be IP address related. The unit is at the same IP address that it has always been. It responds to ping, iOS remote app works using this IP address and everything else on the amp works except web based settings. In my opinion it points to the problem in amp’s web server function.

You said you "tried 5 min power off". You did so removing the power cable?

It is a know issue with Safari. The fix is

1) close all web interfaces on all devices that you use to access the device.
2) Power off for 3-5 mins
3) Use only Chrome Mozilla or IE but not Safari on one device to access the Lyngdorf via the web browser
4) Update to the latest firmware

Problems will go away.

I have the MP40 and had the same issue. This is the details of its latest firmware 5.3.0

- Other improvements

Safari 18.4 or later compatibility issue:

1) If Lyngdorf product is not able to show webpage, please "power cycle" the product on backside switch for a few seconds.
2) After this you can update device to version 5.3.0 with non Safari web browser(Chrome, Internet Explorer, Firefox ,etc).

Hi Thingsofsteel,

This did help. Thanks.

Did not update the firmware (still on 2.5.0), but closing Safari web pages on my iOS devices before power reset did make a difference. The power resets without closing pages did not work!? Will update once I am sure this was only Safari issue.

The interesting behaviour I noticed while having the problem was that it took about half a minute for amp to turn on and off from standby mode and this was accompanied with approximately 30 flashes of Lyngdorf logo in lower left corner of the unit screen. Now on and off are practically instantaneous, as before. This looks to me that it may have been something to do with the unit itself and maybe an error code. Was this only Safari issue and how come I did not have it before?

Regards

Do not use Safari again until you update the firmware or you will have to repeat the process.
The issue was with an update to iOS and Safari. So if your devices updated overnight then the next day the problem rears its ugly head.

Guys, does Lyndorf has actual screen or it is just a cut out in the black filter with leds on a back? I wonder if they'll be able to add more streaming options in future.

Yes it's as you say, but they've recently changed internet radio supplier from vTuner to Airable and added Qobuz Connect (both work great!) and added Tidal Connect previously. And they also recently released the new 'My Lyngdorf' control app to replace the previous 'Lyngdorf Remote' app and honestly its been like getting a new amp, it's that good!

Also the new TDAi-2210 is due to release soon and does have a colour touchscreen - been delayed as they're waiting for an unspecified certification prior to shipping units.

Thanks, I just got the device and my lyngforf app has pretty much everything what webUI has from a first glance, which is amazing. I wonder if they could add plexamp or/and audirvana renderer. They listed audirvana as supported but i think it is only via DLNA

You can mostly do everything from the app, although setting up voicings might be easier on the web app?

I think Audirvana will be supported over UPnP/DLNA (or go via optical if your PC/MAC has an optical out and you have a control app for Audivarna?) I did use Bubble UPnP previously for Qobuz before Qobuz Connect was released and it was reliable. Can't comment on Plexamp as never used it.

Do you guys know what file format Lyngdorf EQ import supports? Is it Lyngdorf proprietary ?

Hi Folks,

I’ve just acquired a 1120 and noticed a potential security flaw. It broadcasts its own Wi-Fi network for setup, but this network is not password protected and remains active even after setup is complete and the amp is connected to home Wi-Fi.

It also stays on if I disable Wi-Fi in the Lyngdorf web app (!). I’m not sure if this is a bug with my unit, but if not, it’s a security issue: anyone can connect to its Wi-Fi, control the device, and potentially access the customer’s internal network if the device is hacked.

Ideally, this network should only be on during setup and should turn off once the unit is connected to a network by Wi-Fi or cable.

I’m not sure if this is limited to the 1120, as the platform is shared. I recommend checking your own device.

PS. I’ve already emailed Lyngdorf and will post an update if they reply.

UPDATE: It looks like it only happens when Airplay is enabled as an input. I've temporarily disabled Airplay until Lyngdorf fixes it.

It works as you described, the network is visible, and if you connect, you have access to device management by app/web browser.
I have the MP40. There is no WiFi access at all. All via on screen menus or web interface.
It looks like it only happens when Airplay is enabled (which is default) as an input. I've temporarily disabled Airplay until Lyngdorf fixes it. I guess MP40 doesn't support airplay as it doesn't have wifi. It is not really a fix, just a temporary workaround.

That's gonna be pretty far down the list of things in my life that worry me ...

I can't see mine on my network (searching for it from two different Android devices)

Update from Lyngdorf:

Thank you for your email.

We have seen this before but unfortunately it seems to be intermittent in most cases. But we believe the issue is caused by google (!). To use Chromecast you need to connect the amp to Google home, and as long as there is no connection the chromecast software will continue to advertise itself to possible users on the network. So if you have a google account, download the google Home app, open it and follow the instructions to register and add a device, namely the 1120. When this is done I don't think you will see the "extra" network anymore.

We realize that this is something of a controversial situation, unfortunately google are very strict with their requirements if you want to use their services.

Unfortunately we don't have a bulletproof solution yet, but if you do have a google account you may try registering the 1120 in the google Home app, perhaps it will do the trick.

Enjoy the sound.

NOTE: I'm not sure if this is related to chrome cast as I had it disabled from the beginning. What I found is disabling Airplay and then re-enabling it got rid of this network. So my suggestion would be to disable both chrome cast and airplay and then enable them back.

Ah, I set mine up via Google Home (despite not using it at all, but because that's what the instructions for the 1120 said was the best way to set it up as an Android user)

I'm certain you couldn't disable Googlecast previously, just checked and now you can? I do use it occasionally, so...
