Im still tryin to give this a shot, but -without exaggerating- everything im trying in the app is faulty.

If you create an EQ and try to rename it, the moment you press "safe" the music is off. The source is still playing, but theres only popping noises. Reproducable. You have to switch the device on/off to get things going again.

That was yesterday evening...today i started listening and tried to create an EQ. AI created three possible presets- great.
I told it to safe all three so i can compare.
AI agreed and said all three are ready for comparison.

But it just random selected on of the three to be compared- the "warm" preset.

Ok...so lets compare the warm vs the current, before saving it or giving more prompts to finetune. Not possible, as the the field for "current" and "after apply" arent responsive. Those virtual buttons are dead.

Ok...so dont listen to it before...lets just apply it! Then i get an error code "failed to load".

This is just a part of what i experience with this unit. Hardware is okay i guess, but software is beta as hell.

I dont know what all those youtube reviewers were doing?

Seems like you're looking for stuff to complain about, if it not for you send it back , hope you find something that suits your taste good luck.

I found it to be informative.
I have the X8 and it function fine, the build, craftsmanship, functionality, etc it's not perfect nothing is but it's not broken either. Also what he or she is complaining about you have clear instructions in the luxsin x8 forum.

Could you post a link to where the problems i was describing are adressed and solved? Cant find it.

Especially that "no sound until reboot" when renaming an EQ- thats most annoying.

Its great for you that you dont encounter these problems- really. Im not looking for anything to nitpick- its most basic usage of the product as advertised.

Wasnt asking for a link to a mentioned subforum, but for the threads/posts which offer "clear instructions for what im complaining about", especially for no sound after saving a preset. But of course for anything else, also appreciated.

Thank you very much.

Thank you for the detailed feedback.

The issues you described are very similar to those reported by another user on our forum:

Our engineers have been able to reproduce the bug where renaming an EQ profile causes the audio to stop, requiring a reboot to restore playback. We expect to fix this issue very soon. At the same time, we’ll also fix the issue where some buttons in the mobile app are unresponsive.

Regarding the “Failed to load” error after applying an AI-generated EQ, we haven’t been able to reproduce this behavior yet. To help us investigate, could you please provide the following information?

1. Which EQ profile were you using as the starting point before asking the AI to generate a new EQ?
2. What prompt or conversation did you have with the AI when generating the new EQ?
3. The MAC address of your X8 (Settings → About → My Device).

With this information, we may able to reproduce the issue and identify the root cause. Thank you again for taking the time to report these problems, your feedback is helping us improve the software.

Finally I was able to get the X8.
First impressions: compared to my old FiiO K5 Pro ESS, this is on a completely different level!
And even though I've had it for less than a day, I've already run into a few issues.

1. (Quite minor) Build quality isn't perfect. The top cover shifts slightly and clicks if you press near the front-left corner.
2. (Resolved) macOS initially refused to work properly with the X8. But a simple reboot, as always, fixed it.
3. The device dropped off Wi-Fi. On top of that, when scanning for networks on the device itself, it finds none at all, even though there are plenty around. Power-cycling it has helped for now, but I've seen other users report the same issue, so I expect it'll come back. Would love a firmware update that fixes this.

Also, I have a question. On another forum you mentioned you were considering releasing an API. Are you still planning to do that?

And after couple hours WiFi dropped again :(

Thank you for choosing the X8!

Regarding the slight clicking sound from the top cover, it only occurs if you press quite firmly. We intentionally left a small amount of clearance between the top cover and the amplifier module to accommodate the thermal pad used for heat transfer. If you remove the top cover, you'll be able to see this more clearly.

As for the Wi-Fi issue, we're actively working with the original Wi-Fi chipset vendor on a driver solution. In the meantime, please try the suggestions in the link below. Some users have also reported a more stable connection after changing their router's Wi-Fi security from WPA3 to WPA2.

As for API, we will release it through our forums in near future.

Thank you again for your feedback and support.

After using it for a few days, I'd like to share some thoughts on how the device could be made even better.

- Not all the settings available on the device are present in the WEB GUI. In particular, Key Settings, Updates, and Backup/Restore are missing. It would be convenient to have all possible settings available in both the web GUI and the app.
- Regarding Key Settings: it's quite convenient that you can assign a button press to switch outputs. But it would also be very handy to be able to disable outputs you don't use, and only cycle through the ones that are actually in use.
- I constantly use input/output switching, and I've noticed that the indication of the active input/output is very hard to see, even from a short distance. The indicator circles themselves are visible enough, but what's actually drawn inside them isn't. It would be great if the active inputs/outputs could be recognized from a greater distance. Maybe it's worth adding an option to color-code each input/output differently.
- It would be extremely useful to be able to set the equalizer separately for the left/right channel.

I also have a question. I don't quite understand the logic behind the "Turn off screen" setting. The description says "Time before the screen turns off after no activity." What kind of activity exactly? Touchscreen/knob usage, or audio playback through the device?

Thank you very much for your detailed feedback and suggestions.

Regarding the Web UI key setting, we intentionally didn't include firmware updates because after starting an OTA update, the device still requires a confirmation on the X8 itself. To avoid accidental updates, we recommend performing firmware updates directly on the device.

The "switch back to the previous output" function will be included in the next firmware update.

As for Turn off screen, it is based on screen/knob activity. If there is no interaction with the touchscreen or volume knob for the specified time, the screen will turn off, even if music is still playing. Sleep works differently, it is triggered when there is no input signal for the specified time, at which point the X8 enters sleep mode.

Regarding the separate L/R EQ suggestion, we are currently evaluating this feature. The reason is that it would affect all headphone measurement data in our database, so it requires careful consideration before implementation.

Thanks again for taking the time to share your feedback, it helps us continue improving the X8.

I've had the X8 for a few days now, and while I'm not nearly as informed or educated as many on this forum, I wanted to share that I've had no issues and I'm really enjoying the X8 so far. I just want the visual kit now.

Currently I'm using sleep mode, but it's not so great - it takes a couple of seconds to wake up. I just want the screen to automatically turn off when nothing is playing and turn on when something is playing, without delay. Can you add a toggle to the "Turn Off Screen" settings to turn the screen on when something is playing?

Lowering the Wi-Fi security to WPA2 didn't help - the device still disconnects from the network.

Hi. If anyone's interested, I made a Home Assistant integration for the X8 and X9.
Right now it covers a minimal set of features, but adding more of what the API exposes is straightforward if there's interest.
Tested on my own X8. The X9 API looks very similar, so it should work there too, but I haven't been able to test it myself.
Repo: https://github.com/dotter-ak/luxsin-ha
Installable via HACS or manually.
This is my first time writing a HA integration, so feedback, feature requests, and bug reports are very welcome - feel free to open an issue or PR.
