I think the Benchmark gear is great for active setups. The overall sound is never heard before.

The Benchmark equipment is superb I use their AHB2 amps here, the amp is the wee tiny box next to the giant horn.


Really quiet, economical just a joy.

Keith, have you had a chance to compare Benchmark DACs to Chord Qutest DAC yet, please? Since you are in the UK, I thought you might have already had a chance...

Why will you have to look elsewhere for your Monitor Audio speakers? (Monitor Audio was jointly founded byMartin Colloms)
I haven’t compare DACs, honestly I wouldn’t expect there to be much difference unless the Chord measure really poorly.

Benchmark offers some very reasonably priced speaker cables considering they are custom terminated using Canare Star-Quad cable and VERY nice connectors.

I have always wondered about the value of the gold plating on Toslink optical cable connectors?

Yes. I didn’t mean that they were only good for active setups. I mentioned that they are good for active speakers because they are an unusual combination of features useful to active speakers.

My speakers are 92db sensitive and the horn doesn’t make a whisper at max volume and no music. Same thing with my previous horns, which were 94db sensitive.
