Lute Music and Other Early Music: Stunning Recordings We Love

If you like the music of Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, I can recommend this recording of Sweelinck's complete keyboard works, played on 3 organs and harpsichord by Léon Berben.
But be aware that the Qobuz download of this 6 CD version is currently a bit bugged, because you only get the 5.1 surround version there. This might get fixed soon, because I contacted the label, they are aware now and the sound engineer kindly has sent me the stereo files of this recording.

Hello @Sweelinck,
Welcome to this thread and thank you for your sharing the info on Léon Berben's 6 CD albums of Sweelinck's music.

I am very much looking forward to the availability of download links for the stereo tracks; if you and/or any people onboard on this thread would already know the download-purchase link(s) for the 6 CD albums, please share it with me/us.

BTW, as I have shared in my posts #166 and #167, at present I have only 17 tracks of Sweelinck's music in my local digital music library;

Just for your possible reference and interest, as I wrote in my post #167, in the CD FESTICHE MOTETTEN ALTER MEISTER (Festival Motets from the 16th Century) by Alsfelder Vokalenemseble, Wolfgang Helbich, Director; CD 313 012 H1 Koch Schwann, the track-12 "Ave, dulcissima Maria" by Carlo Gesualdo is really stunning and impressive, very much fit for my personal preference.

Thank you, and also for your suggestions! I will keep an eye on it, and will let you know when the stereo version is available on Qobuz. Outside of Qobuz, the physical CD box is still available, for example on the Aeolus website.

Early music is such a rewarding era to discover.

Some of my personal favourites of instrumental early music:
- Louis Couperin - complete harpsichord works (4 discs, different harpsichords), Bob van Asperen, Aeolus label
- Johann Jakob Froberger - Strasbourg manuscript, Ludger Remy, Radio Bremen label
- The Frans Brüggen Edition, Teldec label - contains a broad variety of music, but also includes wonderful early music woodwind recordings (Discogs link). Frans Brüggen's recorder performance is excellent, and audio quality held up very well despite the age of some included recordings.

Thank you for your kind response and the attention.

Yes, I too have been being much impressed by Frans Brüggen and Masahiro Arita for their stunning performance and great contribution, as well as excellent recording quality, in early-to-baroque woodwind music recordings. At present, I have these CDs already ripped into my local SSD digital library.
