Hi all,

Wanted to share the results of my latest project as the WAF factor of it is high while the sonic benifits are high as well, win win in my book!

I run a 5.1.4 set up with Arendal 1723 s towers, center, MA radius surrounds and hights and a 1 Subwoofer. The .4 is in an Auro 3D set up. My living room is an open concept Living room on the first floor that is a Vide of the Kitchen which is on the ground floor. New house so concrete walls, ceiling etc.

2 weeks ago my RT60 for the bass was off the charts and the mids and lower highs were about 700ms, the upper highs were ok around 400ms. Plus we had slap echo problems in the kitchen and the Vide living room. Dirac BC did its best, but the set up was far from ideal and it was fatiguing when listening longer or loud.

When ART came out I installed that and it cleaned up the bass completely. No more boominess, all the definition is now there and the bass no longer overshadows the mids and high. This was just a GREAT leap frwd and I would advice everybody to check it out!

After that I had a stretched ceiling installed. It is a perforated PVC sheet that covers 6 cm rock wool padding. See pics attached. My high's were already quite ok with a RT60 of around 400.

The advantage of a stretched ceiling is: WAF factor 100% as it is very beautifull. Next to that the highs will not pass through the sheet, thus they are not damped and the room will therefore not be robbed of them. So only the mids and lower highs are absorped.

This cleaned up the rest of the sound, just like the bass the mids and highs are now uber tight, no ringing, no eccho, not fatiguing anymore, just pure audio BLISSSS...

As you can see in below measurements I went from 700 to 300 - 400 ms. This is the sweet sport I would say!

SUPER happy with the result from an audio perspective and next to that my house is so much more quiet and calm to live in now. We have a busy familiy (kids) and the sound they make is now also under control :D

Best investment in comfort ever!

Let me know what you think or if you have questions!

Cheers,

Jeroen.

Great results! Finished product looks good too!

I'm not familiar with stretched rubber sheeting. Who is the manufacturer?

I live in the EU and we have a couple of manufactorers. It is PVC the material, changed that in the message but prob not before you read it.

Mine is from a german brand called Spalek. But another (global and more expensive one) is called Barrisol.
