Your music will soon sound even better.

The press release indicates it will roll out gradually in 50 markets through the end of October 2025. I checked and it's not available in Dallas Texas as of September 10, 2025.

That was interesting. It's starting to roll out. There's no word on price increases. Oh, if that's the case, that's good news. :)

Lossless is rolling out gradually to more than 50 markets through October. Premium subscribers in Australia, Austria, Czechia, Denmark, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden, the US, and the UK have already started to get access.

Already started to get access. Let's see:

You'll need to enable Lossless manually on each device. You'll know Lossless is on because the Lossless indicator will appear in the Now Playing view or bar, and via the Connect Picker.

I live in Sweden and I haven't had access to lossless yet. It looks like it usually does for me:

This is what it should look like after the upgrade:

I'll check again in a few days. If it starts rolling out now, it might take a while before it arrives.:)

Same over here, none of my devices show the "upgrade" yet.

In the real world, would you really hear a difference between this and Qobuz Hi Res?

Bitrate is still 320 here. :(

Most people on most music in most circumstances would probably never hear a difference.

But it will provide a sort of peace of mind , if you turn of volume leveling in the app etc , your bits will not be alter by some function at Spotify or their apps . Now where only left to whimsical decisions of the record labels :) but it’s one less problem .

Comparing services and media can be hard are you comparing apples to apples or a fruit salad? Ie is it really the same master ?

Yes OGG 320 is really good , I tried but failed to hear any difference with material that I suppose only exists in one master, try something from a small “audiophile” or “ arty farty “ label . That can’t possibly be spending production time to remaster to loudness war standards?

Just as I'm switching to Qobuz.

Perfect ... timing.

Well, Spotify's "Lossless" (24-bit/44.1 kHz) doesn't quite match Qobuz's high-res formats (24-bit/192 kHz), if that's any consolation.

Whether you'd hear the difference is a different question... I've used both Spotify (family plan) and Qobuz (just me 'cause I'm the only one who cares) for a long time. I think they're both excellent.

this can happen commonly, but I have 6 correct, it depends on a lot of variables
Yeah i only listen to music true my speakers and i can not hear a difference. Maybe it is because i do not analyze the bits and bytes. But maybe with a good headphone you can hear some small difference... :)

Devils hopium.

If the files are uncompressed, maybe at least some will be mastered differently. Perhaps with more dynamic range.
