Currently i have a pair of svs prime bookshelf speakers mounted kinda high and angle down (space constraints ) as my front wides,
i hate them, the treble is harsh and does not seem to be time aligned with the mid and bass, the treble is so forward it almost feels as it gets to me ears before the mids and bass does.
i'm looking for a budget option to replace them.
the replacement has to be under 13.5 " tall
was looking at kef Q 150 for their vertical dspersion
and also polk ES15 for their lower distortion
and i can get either in white which is preferable.
any thought or other recommendations?
trying to stay under $500

Btw, everything is run off an older denon avr5200w
other speakers are
4 polk lsim 703 front and rear
2 polk lsim 702 surrounds
1 polk lsim 704 center
would really want a polk r100 for the front wide but can't justify the $650 for it.

Maybe Kef Q1 meta or Q4 meta. I think both have wall brackets.

Do you mind me asking, what's the point of wides? Is there any native content for those channels? What angles did you set your 7.1 channels at?

In the same 6.5" category and wite port on the front in budge category from pasive Elac DBR62 and from active Kali LP 6 V2's.
Edit: didn't read about AVR so definitely Elac DBR62 which are better than Polk R200.

Good options mentioned in the posts above. I view the KEF Q150 and Polk ES15 as low-risk options. FYI, Accessories 4 Less dot com in Florida sells refurbished speakers from Polk and KEF. They usually have more inventory of Polk bookshelf speakers than the one pair of L100's in Walnut they currently show for $599.

aww but they are out of stock.
i read the L series measured worst the r series, port issues

someone suggested this to me
your thoughts on dual 4 drivers vs a 5.25?

I can't guarantee it in these times, but based on past history, I expect AC4L dot com to renew inventory of the KEF Q1 and Polk ES15 in White.

I don't know but I suspect the measured distortion using a pair of 4-inch drivers may be similar to using one 5.25-inch driver. That could be an option in Black.

EDIT: sometimes a 'Sold Out' listing at AC4L dot com means they are expecting inventory soon.

10 of the 32 current listings for KEF 'bookshelf' loudspeakers at AC4L dot com are 'sold out'. This number of sold out listings relative to the total is historically a strong indication that inventory is soon to be renewed. Consider checking daily the listing for a pair of refurbished KEF Q1 speakers in White.

What is the point on wides? Spend your money on a better AVR for instance.

Not sure I get the drama about $150 for the ones you want vs what the budget is. Having wides mounted high is definitively a no-go. They are not atmos speakers.

As noted, upgrades do come in some order and wides are usually not that high up the chain. Subs are, and AVRs with potentially more effective room correction are.

@EPICURIOUS007

KEF retailers are currently selling new samples of the KEF Q1 Meta loudspeaker for $399.99/pair
