Hello to all and Good night.
I'm looking for a network streamer that allows me to play Spotify with as little dependence on an app (iOS/Android) as possible.

The streamer,oo should have its own display (touchscreen or not) and Spotify support with the ability to control playback directly on the streamer.

My priorities are:

Minimal dependence on smartphone/computer apps for playback control

Built-in screen to browse and control Spotify

Reliable and easy to use as a standalone solution

I’m not looking for a DIY or Raspberry Pi setup, but im open to options also.

I'm looking for a solution like this so that my son can listen to music freely without having to use his tablet, which has parental controls and time limits.
When he starts searching for music, in is tablet he sometimes gets distracted, and then time goes by and he ends up not listening to anything — and it turns into a whole drama.
That’s why I’m asking for advice. I just want to find a simple way for my son to listen to music without all the hassle of using the tablet and apps.
I have zero knowledge about streamers, dint even know if such device exist and what is the price.
im based in Europe.
Any recommendations?
Tanhk you very much.

I know this ttopic may lead to parenting advice, but I try to do the best I can, like any parent. That’s exactly why I’m asking for help. I just want to find a simple way for my son to listen to music without all the hassle of using the tablet and apps.

Get him an Amazon Echo. Link your Spotify account in the Alexa app. App not needed after setup.

Then he can say "Alexa, play X on spotify".

I just said "Alexa, play The Pretty Reckless on Spotify". It is playing now. You can say band names, album names or individual songs.

This is from one of their newer Echo Spots. Small screen, no camera.

That would be a option, unfortunately there is some privacy issues and Alexa doesn't speak Portuguese from Portugal... but who knows.
But thank you.

If you can find a used Squeezebox Touch it should do the job, but would still need Lyrion Music Server (LMS) running somewhere (PC, NAS, Pi etc.) The DIY route would be a Pi with a touchscreen and can run LMS on the same Pi. While it is DIY, it isn't hard and the bits are off the shelf - see Archimago's HowTo which is still broadly accurate although now you would probably use a more recent Pi model and case. The piCorePlayer site has a projects section covering similar things with other display sizes although they may be a bit more involved. I haven't actually used the LMS Spotify integration - I'm assuming it's similarly usable as its Qobuz integration.

I don't know whether the Wiim Ultra or Eversolo streamers can control Spotify via their screens.

I use an android DAP with tidal app to control a streamer. The DAP acts like a remote control and I can’t get distracted by phone or tablet.

I think i find a solucion.
Just use an old android phone with the spotify app locked in screen. (Kiosk mode) so my son only use the phone as a remote controlr of the streamer.
