I actually miss the ADI-2 Pro and especially since I had the sooooo sexy anniversary edition model. But that's a VERY expensive volume knob one doesn't really even need in a setup like this. These next generation active DSP speakers are the future in audio speakers in my opinion. The volume control can be a bit tricky in home systems, but it's worth it. I have a pair of 8340 in my living room connected via digital coax to BlueSound Node2i and it works like a charm.

Don’t you use this one for volume?

Nop. I have that, but the wheel on my mouse works equally well and my hand is on that most of the time :)

Happy you enjoy your setup. The 40 cm listening distance is unrivalled. For near-fields I think this is the best option today, even if it comes at a price :)

Yep, I doubt I can improve the sound in this room anymore. 'Grail' setup as we watch enthusiasts say... :)

Maybe send the speakers out to have them covered in a nice wood veneer.
Why can't they make these great sounding guys more purdy?

@Sal1950 , times are a changing. This is from Apple’s latest launch event when they used Genelec speakers to showcase their new Mac Mini.

What’s beautiful and not?

;)

'The Ones' from Genelec are beautiful and perfect. <insert heart here> However, they also know how to make mean looking industrial machines, like these...

I may be purchasing a pair of those for testing. Have not fully decided but if you are not in a hurry, you may want to wait for that.

You’re going to be testing speakers too Amir?!

It would be AWESOME to see speaker testings with the same professional level as so far @amirm. These active studio monitors with DSP have an in-built DAC and I am curious to see how they perform. But how to measure those...?

This is Finnish, highly prized design :)

It’s very different from the typical American audio design.

Oh boy, here we go with the country of origin bit again,
Same criticism goes out to the JBL for a large part of their line. 70x 30x etc.
The KEF LS50, etc..
They look like a cheap molded plastic box, period.
There's no reason they have to be so fugly.
They knew how to do it better 100 years ago

This refusal of thinking country of origin is comical. Yesterday was Bocuse d’Or, the world championship of chefs. Denmark won, followed by Sweden, Norway - and Finland on place four. Coincidence?

Everyone is free to send a team to Bocuse. Yet, the Nordics took all the four top places.

If one looks a country of origin too, one learns much more than keeping one’s eyes closed for such phenomenons.

Busy cooking food that somebody intended to eat for the pleasure of eating?

More of a SE Asian food fan personally, I've paid trivial sums to eat in road side cafes and street vendors in countries like Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia that I've enjoyed far more than pricey Western fine dining (and no, I'm not making it up or exaggerating).

Humm, I don't know, I've watched them eat fishheads and rice in Vietnam.
Looked bad enough to gag a maggot. o_O

You are obviously a Big Gulp fan. Both in terms of speakers and food ;)

And Tokyo has the most Michelin stars.

This is no longer the world old geezers grew up in.
