Hi
My setup is a Yamaha RX-V450 receiver, Infinity Beta 40 speakers and an Infinity Beta SW-10 subwoofer. Since I mostly listen to music, I decided to replace it with an Amp + DAC bundle to improve the sound. What can you advice?

An amp probably won't make a big difference unless your current Yamaha is pushing distortion or noise at higher SPL. A Topping D10S is cheap and transparent if you need a DAC. Better sound can be had with a measurement microphone, REW and some judicious room EQ most likely.

What's your source? Computer, disks, vynyl, streaming?

And welcome to ASR!

Unless you need more power (to go louder) a new DAC & amp aren't going to "improve" the sound. And you'd have to make sure your speakers can handle the additional power.

And you might lose some "features". Most stand-alone DACs can't decode the DVD/Blu-Ray formats and and the amp may not have a crossover or dedicated subwoofer output. And if your receiver has room correction, you'll probably lose that.

Different speakers ALWAYS sound different (better or worse).

If computer is your source you're in luck. All kinds of ways you can correct the signal while still in digital land with EQ. Lots of topics here on ASR to get you rolling and many different approaches. It's a rabbit hole but if you're after better sound well worth the effort and it'll mostly cost you time (and a measurement mic).

Awesome! And in what topic can I search for it? Creative Audigy RX 5 sound card on PC.

Foobar gives rich sources for sound ' correction'.

Thanks for this guide.
REW in combination with the microphone will enable you to set the PEQ very accurately and reduce room modes and nodes. There are people here that can help you with REW operation.

Lots of guides for using REW. Like I said, a rabbit hole but a worthy one.

to improve the sound.
What do you mean by that?
- If you mean louder then you should get an amp of maybe 400W/4Ω compared to your Yammy's rating of 230W dynamic. That's not cheap. You should measure the SPL when you are playing the loudest, which could help us guesstimate if you are actually near clipping or not.
- If you mean "better" sound well then you can start playing musical chairs with amps to see if it makes any difference.
