Hi all! I am in the market for a new headphone, and I am looking for a neutral warm headphone without bright treble. They hurt my ears. I am looking for a portable close back headphone. I have a budget of max 250 euro and I live in The Netherlands. Music I listen to is broad, but mostly RnB, EDM, disco, lots of classical. Also a lot of audiobooks.

Headphones I don't like the treble on:
Sennheiser HD560S (too bright for my taste, treble and cymbal clashes hurt my ears)
Audio Technica MSR7.

What is the sound signature I want? I want warm mids, a bit of bass.

Headphones that I have tried and did not like:
AKG K371 (I am not sure what it is but they sound not that great? Can't pinpoint)

Headphone I actually do like a lot is Momentum 4. This is an ANC. Would you just suggest getting that one or are there better headphones in the price range?

If you need more information, please let me know!

Looking at the two it’s a little weird you dislike the AKG, unless you are used to very bassy headphones like the Sennheiser.
I’d personally stick with the Momentum if you dig its sound.
It’s welltuned, wireless and has good noise cancelling. For a portable closedback, methinks you’re going to find it difficult trumping the Sennheiser in just about any pricerange.
Best of luck going forth.

Yeah it is definitely weird. I actually like the AKG K550 a lot but I could not like the 371. Very weird...

I've had the Momentum 4 headphones and they really are good. I'd tie them with the B&W Carbon PX7 but more modern looking, and the button controls are more intuitive compared to earlier ones. For wired, the Focal Elegia is a closed back and no harmful treble, also the Drop Beyerdynamic DT17xx is a solid pick, and easy to drive.

Perhaps it's just me, but I was under the impression that warm & neutral are mutually exclusive attributes.

I don't think so.
I read it as neutral mids, not shouty and highs that aren't sibilant.
Like the HD650 for open headphones. :D

Just adjust by eq rather than expecting hardware choices to do it all. Pretty silly to expect hardware to do it all....

I don't believe that eq is the cure for everything and every headphone. I'd rather choose a HP with a basic character that I like and then do slight adjustment with eq.

Take my Sundara, I was and am still experimenting with eq settings, but nothing brought me these lush mids the HD650 has.
