Hello,

I am looking for a digital to digital dsp solution.
I have a DAC that's hooked up to my pc and my WIIM mini. For my pc I can use software to dsp the signal but than my WIIM mini can't use it. Also I don;t want to use a ADC->dsp->DAC solution since I find it kinda dumb to do all those extra convertion steps. How ever good they may be.

So I'm looking for a digital to digital dsp box with atleast two inputs you can switch between.

I have yet to find any on my own so I'm looking to see If you'll know something out there.

why can't the wiim mini use previously eq'd signal?

Doesn't the WiiM mini also have a 10-band graphical EQ already? What DSP features do you need?

You can use order a MiniDSP Flex in a digital only config, with inputs like regular and outputs on spdif (coax or optical). It's actually cheaper than a regular (with analog out) one. They have also some other digital only dsp devices in their rangee.

WiiM mini has onboard 10-band PEQ + Room correct (+ digital output).

WiiM can also access digital music files on the PC with appropriate server software.

Perhaps I'm missing something?

miniDSP Flex Digital

Also yeah you can use the DSP inside your WiiM.
Yes the the minisdp flex is pretty much te perfect product but for what it does I find €650 a lot of money.

The 10 band EQ on the wiim mini is to limitted. I'm looking for a product that has the same level of eq capability as the minidsp products or hypex plate amps.

My gut feeling is you've got some other room or speaker issues if the built in 10 bands of eq and room eq is too limiting

It's 10 bands of Parametric EQ mind you, so full control over frequency, gain, Q value, and filter shape, all per channel.

For frequency response correction, I can't think of a scenario where that'd be insufficient.

Though if you need phase correction as well, then yeah I understand.

Your Wiim Mini has a digital out (optical). If your PC has an optical input, just run the output from the Wiim Mini to your PC, and use your PC for DSP.

Or if not afraid of getting down and dirty with set up, Use an appropriately augmented (digital IO) raspberry pi - with Camilla DSP

Yesterday evening I setup CamillaDSP on a Raspberry Pi with a Wiim Ultra as a source (usb gadget) and Fosi Audio K7. I applied EQ for my headphones, a Loudness filter, CamillaDSP set rate and it took me around 3 hours. I used mdsimon's guide on GitHub.

I used to use the parametric EQ on the Wiim Ultra and it was good for headphones but it didn't have enough features for me for speakers.

I wish I had used CamillaDSP earlier......

Curious what you found lacking with the WiiM EQ? (or superior with the outboard DSP).
The 10 band parametric EQ is good and compared to a Minidsp or CamillaDSP it doesn't have delays for individual speakers and nor subwoofer EQ and it only has one subwoofer output. It's more the features that the Wiim doesn't have rather than the parametric EQ itself.

Also, I've been experimenting with the Loudness filter on CamillaDSP and I enjoy the results on headphones and this isn't available on the Wiim Ultra. The Luxsin X9 does have a Loudness feature and for me, like the Wiim, not quite there on the general features.

miniDSP Flex Digital
Two good options with some key differences:

The DEQ 2496 does not force resampling. Whatever DSP you are using, it runs it at the native rate of the digital input (44, 48, 88 or 96) and automatically switches. The MiniDSP Flex internally resamples everything to 96 kHz and its DSP runs at that rate.

The DEQ 2496 has all the controls on the unit itself. The menus & buttons can be complex but it's self-contained. The MiniDSP Flex is configured by a separate device, a PC or nearby mobile device running their app.

Hi, what does your WiiM mini do that your PC can't? I use my mini downstairs because there's no PC but in the office system my laptop takes care of all my streaming and DSP needs?
Seems to me that your WiiM is redundant, unless I've missed something?

Ha! Beat me to it! That thing is sooo capable, and (my version at least) stuffed with high quality silicon. PS connector/wiring blows, but that can be overcome with a soldering iron WHEN the time comes. There’s plenty of threads out there about failed power supplies, but I’d wager a lot of the time it’s just a poor connection.

The Wiim stuff is also really impressive, but the DEQ is in a different league (and form factor). There’s two AD “Sharc” processors under the hood as well as an AD “Blackfin” I.C. ( Not sure what’s different about the Blackfin I.C, but the name’s pretty rad :)
There’s a bit of a learning curve though, especially if you want to take advantage of all of its features/processing power. $350ish last I checked.
