I grew up listening to my mom sing the standards nearly every day, which influences my preference for vocal jazz and the incredibly great lyrics of the Great American Songbook. Without Billie, Ella, Sarah, Peggy, June, Nina, Abbey, Chris, Frank, Tony, Mel, Nat, ... jazz would hold far less interest for me.
I love that there's a revival of the art, with incredibly gifted singers like Roberta Gambarini, Tessa Souter, Veronica Swift, Samara Joy, Caity Gyorgy, Lucy Yeghiazaryan, Cyrille Aimée and others keeping it alive and swinging.
