Listening Room Furniture

I'm in the design phase of building out a office space that will double as my listening room. There will be a raisable desk and I'm currently deciding on whether I want an office chair or to take advantage of the desk and get a lounge chair and just move it to my listening position when I'm either standing up for work, which I'll predominantly do or when I'm ready to unwind for the day. The desk will be behind the speakers which will be pulled out from the wall quite a bit.

My question to you is: what kind of furniture do you have in your listening room, what do recommend and what are you against having in a listening space?

Shelves with books arranged unevenly, rugs, a wooden coffee table (no glass), an Indian piece of furniture that serves as a bar, fabric hangings on the walls, paintings or posters, a sofa at the back, poufs, curtains, a ceiling with beams, anything that can break up and absorb reflections without making the room feel sterile. It's a balance to be assessed by measuring in order to correct it.

I've already planned to incorporate some of these into my space, its a 12ft x 12ft square with high ceilings and foam tile, I'll be adding blackout crushed velvet curtains to 3 of the 4 walls, the front and two sides. The rear will have two standing dressers that will have fabric sound absorption panels hanging from their doors and a wide bookcase connecting the two. Atop of the bookcase is going to be my whiskey and headphone bar. Hung above that will be a wooden noise diffuser that will be in the same colors of the room (navy blue, white and oak) as a sort of functional art piece.

The floors are wooden and there will be a large area rug covering about 2/3rds of the floor itself.

Atop of the bookcase is going to be my whiskey and headphone bar.
Sounds like you're well on the way to a great listening room. Assuming the bookcase is not so tall as to render the whiskey and headphone bar out of reach all the other variables will shrink into insignificance.

No worries on that friend, the bookcase is supposed to be low and wide, slightly above hip height is the goal.

Same idea but a somewhat different question: anybody use smart switches to control your electronics? If so, which ones do you recommend?

I use Philips Hue for all lighting and smart plugs. It's on the more expensive side, but compatible with most systems and very reliable.

I swapped my couch for two chairs with low backs and no armrests, and that cleaned up some early reflections and made positioning easier without messing with sound too much.
I'm putting in two lounge chairs for guests/myself with a smaller mesh office chair for my standing desk.

At least for lighting I plan on using FancyLED's for around the TV lighting and Govee Lighting synced to the TV as well across multiple lighting devices in the office.
