Linus Built a USB Cable

However I find it hard to believe a dongle can be better than the PC wireless (for desktop, anyway), since the desktop wireless are usually proper transceivers with one or two external antennas which already make their hardware way superior than a dongle. Tho I do often see people forget to install the antenna and complain their wireless only works up to 2 feet.
Hmm, will my antenna improve Bluetooth or just WiFi?
(Also I think a little dongle is nicer than my bulky and ugly antenna).

The antenna is for both bluetooth and wifi. They're both 2.4GHz. So the transceiver use the same antenna for both jobs. Ooo technology.

(Please don't tell me you've been running the internal BT without it)

I have. But I don't use Bluetooth on my computer for anything (I tried to with my mouse and keyboard, but the lag was ridiculous, I just use the dongle they came with)

And of course I use an Ethernet cable (which coincidently goes straight to a Wifi router on my desk).

(The antenna is so ugly!

My setup requires long USB cables. I have had a ton of issues with extension cables and long USB cables straight up not working. Especially with my PS5 controller. Big pain in the butt.

USBC is a nightmare.
Just for general awareness: USB C extensions are "illegal" in the sense that they are not allowed by the design spec. The additional connector is pretty bad for signal integrity. Cable length for "legal" data cables is also severely limited above 5 GBit/s.

If you want to be on the safe side, get the "USB IF certified" stuff. Those cables are generally on the short side, but for good reason.
