Am familiar with ASR's 2019 review of the LG G7 ThinQ and its excellent audio qualities. [https://www.audiosciencereview.com/...o-measurement-of-lg-g7-thinq-smartphone.4468/] The LG's superior audio reputation is why I acquired my LG G8 ThinQ a few years back! My LG G8 ThinQ is running Android 12.
Now learning about Bluetooth to possibly bring an older active speaker system up to date. (The Acoustic Energy AEGO 3, which has BT 4.0 and an optical digital input.) (https://www.acoustic-energy.co.uk/support/discontinued-products/discontinued-aego-systems/)
Not previously interested in BT due to its latency and inferior (to wired) audio quality. Or so I thought until learning about the LDAC codec and BT 6.0.
I have attached some Developer Options-BT codec screen shots from my LG G8 ThinQ. Most of the potentially interesting items are grayed-out.
My question: what has to happen to get these grayed-out items, especially anything having to do with LDAC, to come to life and be selectable?
Am I correct that the LG G8 ThinQ has the LDAC codec already on board?
Would a BerryBak BEA1 Bluetooth Receiver connected to the AEGO3 optical digital input bring LDAC capability to the AEGO3?
The BerryBak BEA1 uses BT 5.3. My anticipated use would have the speakers system within 10 feet of the phone, Would BT 5.3 be adequate and BT 6.0 overkill?
Would using a BerryBak BEA1 cause the grayed-out LDAC items on the LG G8 ThinQ to become available?
Not clear if I am even asking the right questions.
Many thanks for all help.
Best regards,
Cliff
