Let's talk about food!

I just cooked up a pot of fresh green beans, diced some good bacon about 1/2 pound, added 1/2 cube of butter, fresh ground black pepper
and apple vinegar. Simmer until the beans wilt (with physical wrinkles). Salt to taste after you cook the beans an bacon 2 hours at a low simmer

I know if I added enough vinegar by going out of the house and coming back in. That and fresh cornbread.

Vinegared green bean and cornbread? It's really good with corn bread dressing with sweat/spicy breakfast sausage added.

In less controversial food news, I cold-smoked some shrimp on Saturday with alder then grilled... they came out really quite decent, just brined beforehand and served with a little lemon. I think they could really shine with some garlic and whatnot.

Me too. In my Italian family calamari was a popular dish but I never could develop a taste for it.
It was like eating rubber bands to me no matter how it was prepared.

Sal - so sorry about the “rubber band” issue! Squid has to be barely cooked if flash fried, otherwise, exactly
the texture of rubber bands. Ditto sautéed for a salad… I am fond of calamari and scungilli salads! Just do
not overcook!!

If I am repeating myself, apologies:

To me, an outstanding authentic Chinese Restaurant on Mott Street in NYC;

My favorite dish is snails prepared Chinese style with the pointed end filed off so one can suck the snail out of the shell
along with the operculum! Absolutely delicious (if you like snails)! Most of the clientele are Chinese - tell you something!

 My God, doesn't anyone here eat any normal food, good ole American steaks and cheeseburgers ???
Or normal Italian food like pasta and pizza ???
Your gonna be poisoning yourself with all this exotic crap. ;)

Roasted a pork shoulder a week ago and we've been eating that plus a couple different spaghetti preparations most nights since. Went exotic and had delivery from a local Chinese restaurant tonight, though (but hey, rice and noodle dishes, so kinda Italian)

To reference “Young Frankenstein”, I think I got my brain from a container labeled “ A B Normal”.

Things I do not eat: grubs, sea cucumber, blood pudding… and I am certain that other exotic cuisines might
not appeal to my taste or other aesthetic.

More pedestrian things (Modern American) I enjoy: Roast Prime Rib of Beef; Berkshire Pork Chops; my Grandmother’s
Chicken, fried in a cast iron skillet; Leg of Lamb with Root Vegetables; Mashed potatoes and potato salad.

I survived University on Whoppers - a burger, fries and a Coke for 99¢! And a coupon that was Buy one - get one Free!

Australia is a melting pot of different nationals. I was having lunch at work with a few of my colleagues, one of whom was a person of Indian descent from London (he looks and speaks like Rishi Sunak), and the other two were Indians from India. Well, this London guy said "the best Indian food in the world is in London ...". The other two guys just looked at each other and kept eating.

Maybe a bit spicy for @Sal1950
That's possible, there's not one item on that plate that I for sure recognize.
What's the one in the very middle, looks like rice and beans, maybe?
Then I think I see some sort of sausage on the middle left ? but I'm actually afraid to guess? LOL

The bigger the burger, the better the burger,
The burgers are bigger at Burger King!

There are some fantastic places but many more rubbish ones !

I ask, who lives in NY, I have to come to the Big Apple, in September. I will stay in a hotel in Times Square as a tourist, can you recommend some places where I can eat well without spending my entire bank account?? My family and I love all types of cuisine, maybe not insects and things like that:facepalm::). Japanese cuisine, and also typical NY cuisine (if it exists).
In short, everything that is succulent and good.
Typical places. I've been recommended Chelsea Market and Katz's Delicatessen, do you have any other recommendations?

In this 3ED, is there anyone from New York who can give me advice on good restaurants or places to eat well without spending a fortune? Can someone provide information on this, such as restaurants, sandwich shops, fast food… (no Italian cuisine, I eat it every day). One last thing, is there a typical New York cuisine?”

If you need any more help or have other questions, feel free to ask!

Looks interesting and definitely a value. Not a scam, a charity. Feed some hungry kids with your purchase. Recently bought several Architecture CAD programs from them for $25 that are working great. FYI

Back in our favourite restaurant in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Starter is a very nice mini vol-du-vent with lobster and sea urchin cream slathered on top

Then beef bourguignon

Ending with a nice lemon tart with grapefruit sorbet:

Why would you go to KL and eat Western food? I can give you a list of recommendations - Lala (cockle) noodles at Lai Foong ... claypot rice at Wai Sek Kai or Pudu ... beef noodles at Soong Kee in Jalan Silang or Sin Kiew Yee. Go to Unique Seafood, it is like an edible aquarium. Then there are the countless nasi lemak eateries - you can try the difference between Malay, Indian, and Chinese versions (IMO the Malay version is the best, even though I am Chinese). The Indian versions are usually too fiery, and the Chinese versions usually too bland. And then there's your national dish of chicken rice (I know you are Singaporean). The stalwart of KL chicken rice (Nam Heong) isn't the best any more, there are a number of places that are better. I forgot the name of the place in Damansara Uptown, I will have to ask my friend.

The last thing I would eat in KL is Western food.
