Let's share diagrams (and photos) of our total physical audio system and the whole signal path, with a few words and/or links

Hello @benchmarkmannen, welcome to this exciting thread!

Yes, I am also much impressed by your nice photos in your post on the remote thread.
Looking at your system diagram, now I can easily understand what your handle name would mean. :D

I mostly use the laptop to remotely control (screen sharing) the Mac mini so I have full control while sitting on the sofa. The system is calibrated with both GLM and Dirac ART. I mostly use ART, and never use both at the same time.

Thank you and welcome to this exciting thread, @MouseOnMars!

I too am dreaming to go into multichannel multi-amplifier DANTE or RAVENNA (edited) world in (the near?) future just like Kal, @Kal Rubinson, is intensively implementing...

Is he doing that? I would have thought a more sensible choice would be Ravenna, since he already has a Merging Hapi. Although I believe that these days, Merging is Dante compatible. I have to admit that running a network cable instead of a whole gaggle of analog interconnects is very appealing.

It’s unreasonably difficult to get AES format from a computer output. There are shortcuts if you accept unknowns and compromise. But if you’re a purist, and want a no-nonsense conversion, you are looking at expensive gear for such a trivial matter.

Went with Dante because I wanted the simplicity and flexibility of running audio over ethernet, and generates AES more reasonably priced (i'm not filthy rich) than say the alternative RME solution.

I have simplified quite a bit as I was not using all the sources I had available and my Sony BRD decided to get glitchy. Here are the current diagrams.

That hasn't been my experience. I simply direct my sound to the ASIO Merging driver, and sound comes out the network port to my Merging DAC.

Yeah you are right, it is very expensive.

Thank you! You are right, Kal is in RAVENNA + Merging HAPI world.
I accordingly edited my above post #483.

Here are the room images to go with the previous diagram. Sitting 12 feet from speakers. Equilateral triangle. Genelec is very strict about distances. I learned that the hard way experimenting with distance between speakers. Just don't. Make it an equilateral triangle and save yourself a lot of time.

Subwoofer just to the right of the cabinet and behind curtain. The cabinet holds all electronics except for the laptop and speakers.

View to the left of MLP. There is a subwoofer behind the curtain.
