Let's be a little nicer, especially to newcomers

I'm not sure it's wise to demo a speaker with music that is mainly made out of distortion

I'd want to be sure it could reproduce the distortion without distorting.

No matter who they are, a new person should at least brush-up by reading a little bit before going off the rails.

I feel like the most important part of my skills and experience is mostly devoted to understanding expert opinions, not contraverting them.

I took a slow approach here because I want to "get it right", and only to add my personal two cents on occasion. Never did I find an audio forum the least bit interesting, so the price of admission here is worth the info gained.

I guess I'm just saying that it's incumbent on new people to act respectfully not to try to rock the boat. Members have been pretty delightful, in general.

+1

Just as we have seen AudioQuest cables, which had a great reputation among subjectivists, turn out to be indistinguishable from generic cables, under the lens of measurements, I think we are also seeing Bose home speakers, which had a poor reputation, actually turn out better than expected under the unbiased lens of in-room measurements

It’s obvious that the Bose 301 reply was supposed to be a joke, but that frequency response is a lot better than I would have guessed!

Here’s the real speaker to beat:

If you are serious you could volume match and AB them/compare them to other speakers. The difference will be very obvious as the Bose 301 is a hollow sounding mid-rangy speaker.
I was actually being quite unserious and clowning about the Bose.

I'll just let y'all do the heavy lifting and go with your recommendations that meet my needs & budget; it's appreciated!

It's work quite well in the past. Thanks again!

Just noticed this thread. Pretty funny it exists coming from this guy. Lol.
I gather you mean @amirm who started the thread, or? What on Earth do you mean otherwise?

This threads spirit/purpose is for new members like you, so you feel welcome... or are you providing us with an example of a new member not being pleasant instead?

He WAS here to Troll and that became overly obvious with this last post. I sent him on his journey. He won’t be responding to you.

There is such a great work done here year after year that I cannot see myself leaving on the basis of someone not being polite with me.

I know I am pretty special as I have an indestructible personality, but I guess any adult
people can easily turn those behaviors on to the
correct heading and land together on the appropriate tracks of good willingness.

Admirable. But there is no excuse for bad behavior. Every now and then a poster will deserve to get flamed, but once in awhile we can be a bit tough on someone who honestly may not know better.

Superior knowledge should humbly uplift and guide those on the learning curve.
I myself could have not possibly describe better
what I have seen most of the time hereabouts.

Yes, but a crappy attitude sends them back to Head-Fi to talk about the audible merits of cables. One does not require the other! :)
No problem with cables whatsoever.

Your money, your toy.

Drums sound better to you ? Great.

Changing cables for the woodwinds ? Enjoy.

They grow like weeds during the night hours.
This is ASR, Adam. "Night hours" would just be anytime considering the spectrum of posters/readers locations. ;)

Good point. Speaking Eastern Standard Time or 0200 through 1100 hrs Zulu time. My apologies for not considering our global audience. Thank you for pointing that out to me VF. ;)
Conversely, I was thinking that, say, prime time in American Samoa was probably not gonna generate too much work for the moderation staff when y'all are havin' that first cup of morning Joe.
