Legal fund for Reviewers/Erin?

On this topic, is anyone here familiar with the Youtuber Mend It Mark? Genuinely warm and engaging chap who repairs audio equipment to a high standard.. He was sent a £25k preamp to repair by the manufacturer who challenged him that he wouldn't be able to repair it. When he did repair it (and write his own schematic and service manual for the rather shoddily made thing) the manufacturer appears to have put a copyright claim on his video and had it removed from youtube.
this one is diabolical

this is a £25k Tom Evans Master Groove phono preamp and I can almost understand Tom Evans if they did not engage Mark in his services but they paid him for the repair and they clearly did not like the conclusions Mark came to

Whole thread on it.

Check out Erin's recent posts. He's in a similar situation again this time with Borresen. While no legal threats have been made, they basically said he doesn't know how to measure speakers correctly (my words). You know what's weird? I check U.S. Audio Mart frequently. Ever since his review I've noticed several Borresens up for sale. Could be a coincidence, but I have noticed a sizeable uptick in Borresen ads.

I should add that Tekton won't be the last because manufacturers have been trying to hide the data Erin is bringing to light. Surprisingly, we are discovering Erin's (and Amir's) testing equipment is more sophisticated than many of the manufactures that are complaining their measurements are off. That's changing, however. As an example, Ascend Acoustics just spent $100K plus on new speaker test gear. I don't think they would have made this purchase in the past. Now this type of equipment is becoming mandatory.

They say that speaker design is a compromise. Not just in terms of price, but also form and function.
But to your point... the Klippel ?sp? is what 30-40K? I would expect that a large company would be able to spend that and do their own testing.

If you ever watch the behind the scenes video of Jay Lee and CSS co-lab speaker ... the guys at CSS went overboard on components for the XO. I'm sure it had a killer sound, but way to expensive and too big to fit into the speaker. (Obviously it never went into production....) So there are always going to be trade offs in terms of components and design which will impact sound. For a $100K a pair or more... I'd be more critical than I would for a sub $1K and would expect a bit more R&D before going to market.

W.R.T the Borresens on the market... not sure if you can make that correlation. It could be that they found other speakers that were more to their liking and the purchase was an impulse buy. There are now a lot of great speakers out there where you don't have to sell off your first born... I don't read too much in a dealer giving a huge discount on some floor models... most likely making way for newer models and frankly the local market may not have enough buyers interested in the Borresens so they want a quick sale.
(I don't know and we shouldn't speculate. )

Now as to Erin's ability to measure speakers... Did you see his last review of the Totem Kin One? Unless he wants that pair (in Pink) as an xmas present for his daughter...
I don't know... just saying... ;)

Just because of Ansuz being part of the Borreson group, I'm out.

Tbh even a umik-1 + rew home made spin would catch such aberrations. No excuse really. The NFS would be icing on the cake so to say.

I do not understand some things...we have some hungarian ls/audio reviewer channel.
One of these reviewers made a very good review about the wharfedale diamond 11.2s several years ago.
The review was absolutly positive, the reviewer told it is his favourite wharfedale ls.
After a time the review deleted from YT and both from the reviewer's homepage.
Wharfedale/supporter did not like something and told there will be sanctions etc.
I asked the reviewer but did not like to talk about it.
I know about diamond 11.2s there was a modification in the serials - (vers 1 to vers 2 change) 1.the vented ceramic magnet tweeter changed to a simply neodym dome tweeter
2.the woofer-tweeter distance changed
3.the woofers foam edge changed to rubber
4.the overall weight changed 9kgs to 7,4 kgs /each
You could not find these datas at wharfedale's official or other site.
The review was about the vers 1.
I had both the vers 1 and vers 2 too so I know what is up.
Not a nice thing to change without notify!
