Legal fund for Reviewers/Erin?

Anything I say will be very, very negative about Tekton. So, I will take the high road and not say anything. But if I did say something, it would fit in the "Snake Oil" thread more than here.
When I was in the market for new boxes 5 or 6 years ago, the name came up. I watched a couple of Tekton's own promo YouTube vids and took the brand out of consideration. If what you want is big, heavy boxes with lots of drivers then Tekton delivers pretty good value. I don't and I didn't find any evidence that their acoustic performance might suit our applications or that the designs derive from acoustic performance specs. We got Ascend Sierra Towers.

Seriously, what loudspeaker has holes in the base right through to the cavity? I've never, ever seen that. Plenty of captive nuts, mounting threads etc and NONE are drilled all the way through.

Yes - that is incredibly stupid design, especially for a standmount speaker.

The whole situation is unfortunate, and I suspect the only end effect will be exposing the Tekton person as a petulant little shit. Query whether someone who seemingly is too cheap for a depth stop on the drill press would spring for outside counsel in the appropriate jurisdiction in the first place...

1. This area of the law is a specialty=expensive to defend
2. All reviewers are vulnerable to these threats
3. The speaker company has more resources to support court action if they believe it is warranted
4. Perhaps Erin can ask exactly what the alleged inaccuracy in his testing is, and retest
5. Perhaps Erin can offer to work with the company on improving/correcting the product, as Amir has done from time to time
6. If possible Amir (and others) should test the product as well, and report their findings
7. I'm a fully licensed cynic, and I said this before: "...the "licensed" part of me says to be careful what you write on here about products and gear (and people). A lot of peoples' substantial livelihood depends on sales of snake oil, and they've been exposed here from time to time. I sense a concerted effort to discredit the forum, and maybe to take other action."

'If the company is so sure that the result came out of pure evil manipulation on the side of Erin they could just provide their own measurements'
Oh my God, Erin was wrong...check out this absolutely undeniable graphic just released by Tekton, lol...

Many loudspeakers have had errors like these over and over again over the last 40 years.
Not everyone places their speakers on the feet provided.
Even if it was carelessness or a mistake in production, these holes could have been sealed from the inside. Apparently they missed it.

Note: the Mini Lore was recently pulled from my lineup due to a slanderous and deeply flawed review by Amir at Audio Science Review the “place where we pretend to know a lot more about audio that we really do.”

The Mini Lore is a fantastic ‘made in the USA high performance loudspeaker’ – if you have any questions about the Mini Lore do not hesitate to call me directly – Eric Alexander audio designer 801-836-0764

The first paragraph puts Amir squarely in the cross-hairs !

Counter litigation, anyone?

In the age of the internet every manufacturer of anything is likely to be subjected to online reviews. Manufacturers should get used to it. As long as the reviewer isn’t deliberately slanderous and malicious everything is fair game. I don’t think much of a manufacturer who is thin-skinned enough to threaten legal action over a bad review. Why not defend the product by entering into a discussion with the reviewer or, even better, improve the product’s shortcomings? I admire the reviewers on this site, and a number of times manufacturers have reacted quite well to criticism, which is the way it ought to be.

I can't imagine this not being resolved by Erin working closely with the manufacturer to ensure that the test conditions of the speaker are fair (ie "feet gate", which is a simple fix of just putting the feet in and remeasuring). After that point the manufacturer certainly can't have a leg to stand on in my view. I don't think any court cases will be necessary, and if the manufacturer knows what's good for their reputation then they'll do a 180 and just be happy that it's been retested with all the feet in place, etc.

After watching Eric Alexander's behavior here and elsewhere, and seeing the design and measured results of his speakers, I can easily imagine it never being resolved.

But it’s still there? So what does he mean “pulled from his lineup”? You can even add it to your cart

Also why would you pull a product in response to a review - even a slanderous one? What’s the logic there?

Frivolous case, it will be thrown out by any judge.
This is not about winning. It is about punishing Erin with the process and sending message to other reviewers.

“Slanderous and deeply flawed”? That is not a realistic assessment. Amir also included the manufacturer’s response, which is more than fair.

I didn’t read every comment but it seemed that most concluded that this $750 speaker is “not terrible.” That’s an accomplishment of sorts.

I'm totally stunned right now.
In the 80s and 90s, such loudspeakers stood as a deterrent example in our DIY loudspeaker shops.
He should thank @amirm that the speaker is no longer available.

Well, if the guy's a lunatic and wants to damage his business then yes, but if he has any balance, perspective & nous then no.

If you look up-thread, you'll see he's behaved this way many times. There's little hope for balance or perspective.

Stay tuned is what we'll have to do then!

EDIT: If it does get to a legal stage I don't mind donating an amount to the cause.

Tekton knows they cannot win such a lawsuit, and it is not their intention. They bully Erin to have him remeasure, so they can say to there customers "yeah some initial measurements looked bad, but they were botched, so we stepped in and informed the reviewer to do them properly and now they look good".
It's all about framing.
You give this aggressive hostile man too much credit. This is about a psychological profile and money. (My opinion of course.)

Mini Lore is a fantastic ‘made in the USA high performance loudspeaker’ - hahahahahahaha ha ha. No, its not. Amir go to court with mr. Eric. He defame you. 1 000 000 dollars. "Audio designer" ...he can afford it.

One thing ASR readers can do right now is visit Tekton Design’s Facebook page and let Eric Alexander (Tekton’s owner) know what you think about this behavior. Public scrutiny can go a long way towards reining in autocratic corporate behavior.

On rare occasions I read about something like this and I think to myself, ‘No way on God‘s green earth am I going to do business with them’. Tekton Design just got added to what is thankfully a pretty short list.
