AD8610 and AD8620 are not designed to drive loads below 200Ω (they prefer > 1kΩ).
They excel at higher gains and high resistance loads.

Simply wrong choice to drive low impedance loads.

Theres def better battery powered DAC & DAPs for the price but its not terrible imo

The problem with using a powerbank and a dongle is that your phone probably only use one USB port, so you can't charge it and listen to a DAC simultaneously, I guess

So “world’s worst cook” panther is one notch above headless? Or just a kinder, gentler headless?

Plays the same role. It is much smaller so I sometimes use it with small devices.

So basically you are better with a simple dongle dac like lately reviewed Fosi DS2.
No place for a device of this size with that performance.

It is for sale now which is all that matters in my book. I am not a historian to go and check for what you say.
I'd suggest that a 2012 release date is important here, so fast things have been moving in devices like these as well as dacs.

I mean, The Morgan Motor Company have been making what looks on the surface to be the same sporty number for decades, maybe changing engine or tyre choice only when they had to. They're totally out of date, but incredibly popular still with wealthy masochist lovers of 'wind in the hair (what's left of it quite often)' motoring :D

Oh boy... It's more like device from ~2014, they're like 10 years late with it. What's with that price x_x

Funny to see a review on this old dac/amp. I bought one of these in 2014, and I'm ready for a replacement. When I started freelance editing - I needed something portable so I could edit with headphones in different locations. It worked really well with etymotic 4SR/XRs, HD 600s and other "pro" headphones that were available. It was one of the better options back then - it had good input options and held up well on the road. It's still plenty loud with the earphones/headphones that I'm using, but probably time for something new...
