What other classic comedy teams should I have mentioned? My favorite has always been The 3 Stooges. Among classic cartoons, Tom & Jerry, Wile E. Coyote & the Road Runner, Bugs & Elmer, Daffy Duck & whoever, the list goes on and on. It's getting too late for me, sorry. Good night for now.

Reeves and Mortimer.

Itchy and Scratchy (they're a dramaturgical dyad).

Olson and Johnson, The Ritz Bros, Colonel Stoopnagle and Bud, Fibber McGee and Molly, Don Ameche and Frances Longford (The Bickersons)).

Re: Olson and Johnson, we tried everywhere around 1970 to get a copy of this to screen but failed (small sample here).

Amos & Andy, no offense to anybody intended. Simply mentioned for historical purposes.

Smothers Brothers, Ma & Pa Kettle, Rowan & Martin.

i'm shocked, a french that didn't mention Luis De Funes?
Always found Louis a bit low-brow. Les Inconnus, on the other hand... I tried to find a subtitled version of "Jesus 2: le retour", but couldn't so here we are:

(Narrator) After Rocky IV and Rambo III, the new Stallone: Jesus II - The Return
***
- I may have been born in a stable, but one day, they will build me monuments that even the biggest billionaires won't be able to afford.
- And what's you name?
- Christ. Jesus Christ. And you?
- Peter. Simon Peter.
(JC) - And you?
- Da. Ju Da.
(JC) - You two, see this hill? Go and see if I am there. [1]
(Narrator) - And they went. They walked for a long time. A very long time. Suddenly, the miracle happened, and Jesus said to them:
(JC) - Impressive, right?
***
(Narrator) - Stallone, in his first sensible and emotional role.
***
(JD) - Simon, did you see him that morning at the market?
(SP) - Yes, and I've never seen someone give away so much bread at once. [2]
***
(JC) - Are you finally going to love each other, fuck?
***
(Narrator) - Sylvester Stallone, in the movie that moved America.
(JC) - This is my body.
(Narrator) - 50% man, 50% god, 100% savior.
***
(Roman official) - Where is he hiding, where can we find him?
(JD) - Some say, in a stable.
(Roman official) - Another one who thinks he's the son of God. Here, your $30.
***
(JC) - Here, this is my blood.
- And you Ju Da, you're not eating?
(JD) - I'm not very hungry.
(JC) - You find what's on your plate not very Catholic? [3]
***
(Narrator) - To save his skin, he must die.
(Roman official) - Who are you?
(JC) - I am Christ. Jesus Christ. Son of God. And you, who are you?
(Roman official) - Pilate. Pontius Pilate. Son of...
(JC) - Whoreson.
***
(SP) - Tell me, Jesus, if someone hits you on the cheek, what do you do?
(JC) - I turn the other cheek, of course... and I use the occasion to headbutt him in the balls.
***
(Woman) - He has ressurected!
***
(JC) - Now, shit is going to hit the fan.
***
(Narrator) - Sylvester Stallone, soon Jesus III

[1] It's an expression to say "fuck off", basically.
[2] "Pain" also means punch in French.
[3] Expression meaning "not right".

If anyone here in the U.S. (not sure what's available elsewhere) has a Roku streaming device, the free (with ads) "TV Time" app is featuring 5 classic Abbott & Costello films. I haven't really explored other possibilities yet, but that app has over 100 comedic films among several other genres. That device also has hundreds of free apps that give you literally thousands of viewing choices. No, I don't own any Roku stock.

Laurel & Hardy you mentioned. Can't be beaten both for comedy and longevity.

Morecambe & Wise. Good in their day. But for a few classic sketches, now dated (and to quote Ernie wise in reply to the question 'what would you have been if you hadn't been comedians?' - 'Mike & Bernie Winters' (another comedy pairing but very poor).

The Goodies - seemed funny in the day but pretty awful now.

Not the Nine O'Clock News (Mel Smith, Griff Rhys Jones, Pamela Stephenson, Rowan Atkinson) - some funny and clever stuff and some less so.

Peter Cook & Dudley Moore - very droll but occasionally very witty.

I'm quite fond of Coogan & Brydon, although they really haven't been around long enough to achieve "Classic" status.

Conway and Korman on the Burnett Show. Conway would do almost anything to try to get Korman to break character.

And Stiles & Mochrie on Whose Line. These guys always crack me up.
