Very nice (and also short at only 13 mins!) documentary on the folk music of La Huasteca region of eastern Mexico.

The Huastec people have an interesting history. They were originally part of the northern migration of the Mayan culture, but were basically left behind, and developed their own distinct culture when most of the Mayan civilization moved back south and east. And they have always been renowned for their musical skills. The Son Huasteco (or Huapango) style of music in this video originated sometime in the late 1800's, and is a fusion of indigenous and Spanish influences.

The original Huastecan language also still survives, and is spoken by some indigenous peoples in the region.
