Laser devices to setup speakers; what should I buy?

I've found the Bosch to be excellent, reliable and accurate. But I principally used to rebuild my house!
Ditto on Bosch, house building and my fences, lumber estimating and post setting, repeating any spacing, large odd shaped paint est. (sq ft), etc.

I have a Bosch laser level (got it for the painters to do the house, but kept it) and it's good for setting speaker angles, distances, etc. Kind of expensive for the purpose, but can confirm that lasers are useful for this stuff.

I have a couple Bosch laser measures that serve a valuable purpose for me, but my first thought here is what's wrong with a tape measure when you are doing this?

No, and I didn't mention a laser in the post you quoted. Please feel free to use whatever tool and make fun of people using different ones. ;)

But you know what this thread is about ? But peace bro i thought the irony is easy to get.

I use a tiny cheap Dewalt DW055 around the house and find it just as hard to believe a more expensive laser would be more accurate as I do to believe a more expensive digital cable would be more accurate.

Is such precision necessary? I suspect not given the natural head movement of even the most disciplined listener, but I am a flopper and thus fail even the most basic best listening practice.

Don't forget that your cables also need to be of identical length to ensure perfect synchronisation.

After joining ASR for a while - and reading and actually thinking - I bought XLR cables of *different* lengths for my Genelecs. Tiny moment of concern as a plugged them in, now I can't remember which is which. Slightly tidier cabling, but tbh I don't even notice that :)

You are somehow right. But nevet forget that the speed of sound in air is far away from the speed of EM waves in cabels. ;)

Here's an official audio-tool laser pointer. Miller & Kreisel speakers (MKSound) sold and recommended this over 20 years ago, under license from this manufacturer. Still available, but currently sold-out. I think it would only work with speakers that have a flat surface somewhere? Admittedly, a bit pricey...

Small mirrors you can attach to speakers can be helpful too. If you think a bit about geometry of what you are trying to do. Often mirrors in women's makeup compacts are pretty high quality and available for nothing once the make up is gone. Bouncing lasers around can let you zero in on some setup angle matching with good precision.
