breaker tripping. So bypassed the power strip and used the AC outlet directly (20 Amp). This allowed me to sweep 4 ohm to clipping:
At some point before my occupancy (likely when it was built, in the early 1970's [as it only had a 100 amp service breaker box]) in my modest (1100 sq. feet) city home had no breaker less than 20 amps.
I have since (with the assistance and oversite of a Union Certified electrician) converted to a 160 amp service breaker box and continued with additional 20 amp circuits. There is no AC outlet in this home that is less than 20 Amp. A great thing for the kitchen, with the many more counter top things that draw current in that area these days.
I will say that the ones for the kitchen and bathrooms were expensive but they are the most likely to involve a life and death situation, so I want to offer these
8 pieces of advice (there are of course other things to consider. I feel that these are of primary consideration.):
Don’t Ignore GFCI Protection

Place outlets and switches safely away from water sources, like sinks and showers, to reduce the risk of electrical shock and ensure safety and code compliance.
Don’t Use Inadequate Wiring
Choose the Right Materials
Bathrooms require wiring rated for damp environments. Inadequate wiring can result in electrical failures and long-term damage.
Don’t Forget to Label Circuits
Future Maintenance
Label all circuits in your electrical panel to avoid confusion during future maintenance.
This makes it easier for you and your electrician to troubleshoot issues or make upgrades.
Don’t Fail to Separate Circuits for High-Power Devices
Dedicated Circuits Needed
High-power appliances like heaters, blow dryers, and heated floors should have their dedicated circuits.
Combining these with other circuits can cause overloads.
Don’t Mix Lighting and Power Circuits
Safety and Load Distribution
Keep lighting circuits separate from
power-hungry devices.
This ensures even load distribution and minimizes the risk of electrical issues.
Don’t Forget to Plan for Future Needs
Think Ahead
