LA Audio Show 2025

Looks like a joint venture between the LA/OC Audio Society and the Chester Group, who have staged other audio shows.

The most interesting detail is their announced hotel is exactly the same venue as that used by T.H.E. Show last year and for their 2024 installment this June. I don't think there's a strong need for two similar shows 6 months apart; I guess time will tell if manufacturers and the press start gravitating to one or the other.

@FishInLA. Yes, that is awkward and even more awkward is the CES in Vegas is in January every year too.

January seems like a good month to avoid the heat in LA but otherwise I agree CES is stiff competition for another audio show. Maybe they can time it so they move the exhibits cheaply from vegas, but as for attendees, I don't think they'd do both.

The two camps have been feuding for a few years. Shame they haven't figured out a way to combine their energies and have a consistent, large scale show there given the huge local audiophiles to say nothing of the fact that rest of us would fly there instead of across the country.

I spent the day there (going back over in a bit for the concert tonight). Not as big as it was at its peak, but a very enjoyable weekend.

Now all of that is moot. T.H.E. Show (changed from The Home Entertainment Show to Total HiFi Experience for 2025) is T.H.E. Show SoCal and acquired The New York Audio Show (now T.H.E. New York International Audio Show for 2025) and it is scheduled for October 24-26, 2025 in New Jersey. In addition, T.H.E. Lone Star Audiofest in 2025 (a formidable DIY/ Luxury Audio Hybrid) was a great T.H.E. collab last month in Round Rock, Texas. 2026 is the 30th Anniversary for T.H.E. and a Vegas show is in the works.

I was only able to attend the one day (Sunday), and had a great time. As usual I will lodge my complaint about the paucity of multichannel music systems, and will again observe that it would be fun for a group of "civilians" to take out a room and set up a pretty affordable system that would sound better than almost anything else there simply by using bass management + subs, some acoustic treatments, and Audyssey or Dirac.

Speakers I thought sounded good enough to mention - Devore Fidelity, Popori Acoustics (full-range electrostats that somehow don't require gobs of power) and Gryphon Audio (although these are eye-wateringly expensive, and also probably sounded great in part because whoever set up that room did use some acoustic treatments).

I also enjoyed the room with the Klipsch Cornwalls that had two separate Technics turntables and a human DJ handling the disc-swapping duties to preform a live vinyl playlist.
