Klipsch The Nines - Review & Measurements by Erin

Here is my in room response of The Nines without sub with all default settings (no eq) from my listening position. The second picture is with JBL L8400p sub, no EQ, and +4, +1, -2 dB equalization. Obviously dips at 120Hz and 180 Hz cause slight lack of punch. But otherwise very enjoyable speakers. Used REW software.

Room modes?

Yes room modes. You can only fill those properly with subwoofer(s) placed strategically, correctly phase aligned and xovered to the mains with a DSP system. Pumping energy via the mains into those frequencies is not ideal and could even damage your mains.

I haven't measured, but I'm getting room modes too. NERD's "Lemonade" really shows them off with parts of the bass line dropping out.

Stereophile just reviewed and measured them too. It's interesting to see the comparison between the Klippel NFS and Stereophile's measurements.

Per @John Atkinson 's request, I have just linked to the stereophile website (And not copy/pasted anything).

I've had The Nines for about six months now. I have them in my living room hooked up to my TV via HDMI arc. I stream my music from Amazon Music through a ROKU stick. I enjoy the sound and convenience of these speakers as much today as when I first hooked them up. The bass still impresses me for such a small woofer (the cone is 6.5"). The Klipsch app is decent but I rarely use it or the Klipsch remote as the ROKU remote is all I need. The CEC / HDMI arc has worked flawlessly. For everyday use I think they are a great speaker for TV and music.

They are great speakers. I'm glad you enjoy them too.

It never matters if one plays TV or music. What's good for one is equally good or bad for the other.

Think so too, they are great [looking at both Erin's and John Atkinson's reviews, at least they deliver an absolutely decent measurement result] Most of the day, I'm sitting at a desk in front of Genelec 8020 in an absolute near-field [~50cm]. When listening to the Kt9s [more mid- to far field ~ 200cm] I do have a very similar "picture", it does not differ very much from the 8020 at the desk [except LF extension]. Somehow it does remind me on my 8050 [which I "love to listen to" - no, we did not marry] I've listened to in a very similar room - set-up. I can't proof and won't compare Genelec with Klipsch, no way. As per spinorama.org, the DI seems to be much better on the 8050, otherwise the Kt9s offers good or better FR, IRR, H&VR ? IMHO the Kt9s deserve a better status since I believe they are not really appreciated.

Did I tell ya, they are "great" ?

Nah, do not consider me a fnby, I jst lk em

Does anybody know, if there is a option for time delay for aligning with subs?

Don't see any mentions of the phono preamp in the thread, so I'm going to add this here.

If you plan on using the nines with a turntable, then get a proper dedicated preamp, because the built-in phono stage is garbage. I can't measure it, but I can say that it has a serious lack of lows and highs. It sounds like it has absolutely no RIAA equalization.

Just buy a cheapo Fosi phono preamp and use the line level input.

Those having reviewed the Klipsch the Nines always did mention that the phono preamp is a kinda garbage. Is it? Is phono not at all garbage?
However, go and get something better in a BOX like this.
