This is the Cornwall replica, but it costs me 1500 euros. I'm worried that the speaker will sound worse than a Heresy IV.
The biggest factor will be the crossover, and how it works with the new drivers. I am not sure if the crossover is designed for the new drivers or if it is to original spec, so I can't say.
People love the cornwalls, if you have space they are a good choice. A large enough room, and space to set them up.
Forte is supposed to be the value speaker in this line, from those who have heard many types and are talking value for money. For what that's worth.
They are only bright if your hearing is not degraded. Being old helps! The Heresy is like all Kiplish speakers very bright and sounds on first sight more detailed because of that, but it's very fatiguing to the ears on high volume.
The 4s are much different than the 1s. But very V shaped voicing, with elevation in the 1500-2000 range and boosted high frequencies.
BTW, the original tweeters in the 1s roll off very early, like starting at 10k. So they are both bright and not bright, in different ways.
Best I can do with EQ for the Heresy 1s is to get the general curve flat and let the heresy coloration be what it is. So flat with spikes up here and there.
I do think the scooped out middle is an issue for AV, even for people who like Klipsch for music. Dialogue being the reason. Which is why JBL would be my choice for mixed use.
I do still listen to my modified heresies for music, when I want a vintage sound for vintage music played not very loud. Particularly if I want a "live music in 1960" sound. It usually takes me a while to get used to them though, like 30 minutes or so. Then when I switch back to Ascend Sierra LX (very neutral), it takes me a little time before they stop sounding "dull".
I do enjoy the classic Klipsch sound, really. I have an irrational desire for La Scalas. But even with that, I started out searching for new speakers with "Anything but Klipsch" as a rule. I much prefer them as a snack, not as a regular diet.
