Reviewing another DAC or small amp? Is that really better? What has happened to all the SMSL & Topping reviews promised
If you want to gain technical knowledge of your next purchase, well yeah. Constantly reviewing cables that you already know before testing are going to work exactly the same as a cheaper cable, is just dumbing-down what this site is supposed to be.Reviewing another DAC or small amp? Is that really better?
The “your system isn’t good enough” infuriates me haha they use that line for pretty much every component. That’s a vicious circle right there! But but ... but...
- Ears are more discriminate than an analyzer.
- We don't even know how our brain works.
- Your system isn't good enough.
- All happy owners can't be wrong.
- Did you burn in the cable.
- You have to live with the cable for a few months before you can appreciate the differences.
- You did not even listen to the cable (by your own admission).
- You are too old to hear the minute differences.
- You have not measured all relevant aspects.
- I can even hear differences between mains cables so why would RCA cables not sound different.
- I can clearly hear differences... I don't even need to do a blind test as it is so obvious.
- Music is different to test signals.
- How do you measure the 'soul' of music ?
- You can't measure the emotion that is conveyed.
- Surely the designers at Kimber will know what they talk about.
- etc....
Audiophile gobbledygook. A coat hanger with the correct connections would still transmit the signal... the only other thing you would have to consider is shielding.A little reading now...
"The 6065 is a delicate balance of 2/3 copper and 1/3 pure silver utilizing both VariStrand and solid core conductors. This synergistic blend of metallurgy and conductor design strikes a keen balance between detail, transparency and a natural tonal presentation. The 6065 will maintain complete dynamic control over your loudspeaker while preserving balance within the audio spectrum.
Incorporating both VariStrand and solid core copper conductors, the 6063 was engineered to extract all the performance copper has to offer. The all copper design results in a rich, dynamically robust presentation while producing naturally layered lifelike soundscapes"
What promise? I don't recall promising anything. Members send me stuff and I review them. Usually these take priority over company sent gear. What has happened to all the SMSL & Topping reviews promised, which are what the majority of people here want to see?
You said (I'm guessing) a year ago that you had a huge backlog of SMSL & Topping gear to review. In the last year (again I'm guessing) we have only seen one. What promise? I don't recall promising anything. Members send me stuff and I review them. Usually these take priority over company sent gear.
To be sure, there will be more Topping/SMSL reviews. Just that like the membership, I enjoy the variety.
True, but that's not cable testing, that shielding testing.... which is the most important consideration with any cable. We all new what the test will show before it even started.
In my opinion, RCA cable testing would be much more useful with cable going next to different sources of electromagnetic noise like mains cables, noisy power supplies etc..
