We obviously have a differing concept of ‘reasonably priced’.

Funny how ICONOCLAST says that everything they offer is explainable in objective, measured terms...then in one of the "papers" on their site they say the three different grades of copper they offer DO sound different but provide no evidence.

Maybe they were destroyed by iconoclasts.

It's really easy to find subjective extremism with a cable debate.

Well, I do all my equipment and accessory testing with..., well you get the idea.
Perfectly fine. But if you are to ever try to sell people on something based only on what you say you hear and have no objective proof to back up those claims, then you'll be corrected. Has nothing to do with harassment or hate speech. Just calling out BS by cable brands.

Out here as in many audio forums it is a race to the bottom, with everyone trying to out smart or out wit each other.
This is quite different from most audio group/fora in that the whole cable thing....just isn't a thing, we're not trying to race to the bottom with cable nonsense....

I'd rather be on a forum where everyone is trying to out wit each other pointing out the absurdity of the high end cable market then be on a forum where people are trying to out wit each other defending high end cables or other such snake oil endeavors.

"Six 25AWG Black Pearl solid silver conductors drawn in diamond coated dies and insulated with virgin FEP dielectric under the most exacting tolerances which offer the purest transfers of the most demanding highest resolution signals. These interconnects produce silent backdrops for vivid tonal color and flawless creation of space, time and ultimately the soul of the performance."
This should be recited at a poetry slam or something!
OR on a late night talk show, like Johnny Carson reading the lyrics to Donna Summer's "Hot Stuff"...OMG there is no clip of this on YouTube! The sky is falling! The End Times are upon us!

I don’t blame companies charging what they can get away with, it’s the basis of the capitalist system.
I do blame the magazines and a lot of sites that praise that vastly overpriced but mediocre performing stuff and make out that is what you need to be taken seriously in this hobby.
Most of those magazines, not to mention sites and "influencers" are economically deeply dependent on ad revenues and marketing money from mentioned companies. I blame schools for not teaching young people of critical thinking and creating "dumb buyers " and especially governments for letting this scam (companies paying for hotels, dinners, gifts and so on) go on. They should be forced by the law to disclose how their relationship with companies works and if those "reviewers" say own stock in companies that are sending their products for reviews.
I think we will colonize and terraform Mars before anything I mentioned above happens though

I was impressed by the description of the new Revels having "crystal brass binding posts" as well. We could plant a successful garden with this language...

I look forward to a future 'Axpona' where Tested Audio can showcase the products it distributes using Amazon Basics-branded cabling for one channel and Kimber Kable (or similar) for the other channel - perhaps offering a playlist of well-regarded mixes in mono. ;)

Everyone will think the Kimber Kable channel sounds much better ...

There are six people who voted “great” for this. Just for your existential contemplation.

I rated these Great (golfing partner), since they perform to the level of Amir's reference system, if you don't muck about with them too much.
That would be reasonable if one of the options wasn’t “a waste of money” I guess. If that were the case I suppose I would have gone for “fair”, since something simply functioning is sort of a null hypothesis standard. But then again I’ve never been much of an iconoclast…

It

Frustrates me that so many people believe that we know everything about cable characteristics that can be measured and have the capability to measure them.
I have had very little trouble hearing differences in cables for many years now.
Interestingly I don't always prefer the most expensive ones, my system is populated by moderate costing cables which seem to suit it and me. Amazingly the best value upgrade I have done for many years was 3m of ethernet cable from my router to my streamer, it was £30 improved musical flow, detail retrieval whilst also sounding smoother and also gave bass more 'interest & texture'. I know it's difficult to put sound quality into words but these are my words for what I hear, and my system overall is vintage to newish and relatively affordable.
Welcome to ASR. Stick around awhile.

I know a lot of people who are into this and they come from all walks of life. A lot are doctors actually. That is probably the most common profession which I find so odd given their training to believe in controlled testing.
Um, as a doctor myself may I ask that we have a prospective, randomized, double-blind placebo-controlled trial before we state that doctors are significantly more likely to consume snake oil please?
