Do these audiophiles replace all the copper wires that run through their walls?
That seems doable...
It might be harder to replace the copper traces on the circuit boards in their equipment.
Not to mention every component that has copper wires on it as well as all the used solder should also be upgraded...
I guess the RCA (and/or XLR) connectors on the gear itself also must be replaced including any internal wiring.
Ohhh. maybe also replace the copper voicecoil wiring in the drivers and ... all the parts in the XO filter.

I think the best way to evaluate is to get a friend to come over and do a blind test. Have them randomly switch between them 10 or so times. If they can correctly identify them every time, then there is a difference.

There is a certain arrogance when we go solely off measurements that assumes we understand, and are measuring, every relevant factor. Tomorrow, we may find something we aren’t testing for, or even know about, that makes a difference.

If there are the dramatic differences that are claimed, then it should be very easy to blind test them and get them right every time. But it has to be totally random and blind.

So, if 2 cables were randomly blind tested, and several people noticed a difference every time… but they measured exactly the same… what then? BTW.. I’m not saying measurements are bad. I’m just saying that the ear is also a measurement device, and can’t be totally discounted.
 
Some folks seem to be confused over the difference between intelligence and education.
They are completely separate aspects of the human condition
And lets not forget common sense either ( that cant be taught )

That's a myth, plus not really relevant. We're in the 3rd decade of the 21st century, we really don't yet fully understand voltage in a wire? It's a bit of a stretch. Anyway as others have said, do the testing proposed and we can go from there. I don't think there's any reason to suspect that the results will be any different from previous efforts.

Right. And if they saw a unicorn every time, I would change my views on unicorns. Until then, unicorns don't exist.

But we do fully understand the anatomy and physiology of the human ear and how it physically works.

There is nothing special/unknown in how we pick up sound through our ears. This is how we know what parameters, when measured, will dictate if there is an audible difference or not.

The way each person's brain interprets what their ears picked up is where the "measurements aren't everything" group lives. Which is where psychology/psychoacoustics comes into play (such as sighted bias, expectation bias, etc).

Even the Ancient Greeks understood it was round and were able to get fairly close to measuring the size of it thousands of years ago. There just isn't some magical thing our ears can hear that can't be measured. If there was someone could have easily proven it by now. People hear differences mainly because we hear more with our eyes and our expectations than most people realize. The brain creates differences the ears didn't actually hear.

You're proposing two mutually impossible possibilities. If 2 cables, correctly blind tested show differences which people reliably pick up, then they cannot measure exactly the same, there will always be a clear and obvious reason for the audible difference. If two cables measure the same, then they cannot be audibly distinguished in properly constituted blind tests, so your premise is flawed.

A ruler is a measuring device. If a micrometer or caliper shows no difference in the length of 2 objects then we can discount any difference one might see with ruler measurements.
This especially.
Ears are very rudimentary "measuring devices" compared to the measuring equipment available.

Omg he had bougth synergistic research stuff and cables for more money than my house it worth , hopefully the widow can get some cash back from the sale .

Its a bit sad decades of buying more cables and tweaks in the never ending upgrade circus .
 
And all those useless tweaks on top of some pretty bad speakers ...
 
With the amount of money turned over in the after-market cable sector you would think that one of the major players would have found a way to prove their claims scientifically (As has happened with DAC's and power amps) giving them the edge in that sector. Have they? No. That should tell you everything you need to know.
The one time that I know of where a company tried to prove that their cables were superior to another's, the independent testing company with an international reputation proved them wrong. Two of their cables were actually worse than the competitor's similar cables. Both of the companies involved in the test are mentioned here very often. And neither of their products beat out similar cables sourced from Radio Shack.
